President Donald Trump slammed judges thwarting his administrations deportation efforts in a middle-of-the-night Truth Social post, just hours after Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson slammed such social media attacks on judges by Trump and his allies.
Politico reported on Friday that the Justice, in public remarks at a conference of fellow judges, “forcefully condemned attacks” by Trump and his allies, without saying any specific names.
“The attacks are not random. They seem designed to intimidate those of us who serve in this critical capacity,” Jackson said at the conference. “The threats and harassment are attacks on our democracy, on our system of government. And they ultimately risk undermining our Constitution and the rule of law.”
Before a scheduled on-stage discussion about her life, Jackson strode to the lectern and said she had decided to speak out against “the relentless attacks and disregard and disparagement that judges around the country and perhaps many of you are facing on a daily basis.”
“It seems as though every time I read the news or turn on the television these days, I see the affronts,” said Jackson, who is the high court’s newest member.
Jackson received a standing ovation from her fellow judges for the comments, which followed on many recent instances of Trump and allies such as Elon Musk and Stephen Miller slamming judges on air and online over their rulings.
In a dead-of-night post just a day later, Trump continued blasting judges, saying at almost 2 a.m. that “Judges aren’t allowing the USA to Deport Criminals, including Murderers, out of our Country and back to where they came from? If this is so, our Country, as we know it, is finished!”
“Americans will have to get used to a very different, crime filled, LIFE,” Trump wrote. “This is not what our Founders had in mind!!!”
