Exhausted Trump Gets in Tense Spat With Barstool Sports Hosts About Trans Athletes: ‘She Should Have Gotten The Sh*t Knocked Out of Her?’
Donald Trump got into an awkward exchange with the hosts of a Barstool Sports podcast when he “weaved” into criticism of transgender athletes.
The former president appeared on Tuesday’s episode of Bussin’ With The Boys podcast hosted by ex-NFL players Will Compton and Taylor Lewan. Near the end of their conversation, Trump detailed his lengthy media schedule that day and admitted he initially wasn’t in the mood to be there. Still, he said he enjoyed spending time with them.
“Now, a lot of people you meet — even for interviews — and you wouldn’t feel this way,” Trump told them. “You know, you wanna sort of get out of there; and I wasn’t in the mood to do this. I just left the Economic Club of Detroit. I made a two-hour. Then, I left Maria Bartiromo. She gave me a what, one hour — at least — interview. And then I said, ‘OK, is that is for the day?’ ‘No, you’re gonna meet a couple of young, handsome athletes. One of them’s 6-foot-7, and the other one’s just a pure, good athlete’ … We had a lot of fun. I had a lot of fun.”
Before ending the interview, Compton asked Trump how he planned on uniting the country. Trump first predicted the episode would get record views before railing against trans athletes.
“So, you wanna see the country united, but we have two very different [sides],” Trump said. “You have a very conservative side, and then you have people that wanna see an open border and things. A lot of it’s so far out, like, for instance, they want men playing in women’s sports. I don’t think I could ever say I’m thrilled about that, OK? I’ve seen people really hurt.”
Trump then falsely claimed two Olympic women’s boxers — including Algerian Imane Khelif — were actually men who transitioned. The hosts didn’t challenge his comments, but Compton argued that one of Khelif’s opponents should have continued fighting as opposed to quitting during the match.
COMPTON: She should have stayed in the ring.
TRUMP: Huh?
COMPTON: She should have stayed in the ring.
TRUMP: Well, it was sort of weird, right?
COMPTON: You fight your entire life for that moment. You know going into it you’re probably going to face this person.
TRUMP: It was a weird thing. I mean, she got hit very hard — and only with lefts. You know, it was, “poom,” and she then walked back to the corner. She said, “I just got hit by a horse. I can’t take it,” and then she walked back. You’re right about — a little bit right — but she’s fighting a man. She is fighting a man.
COMPTON: But Donald, you know if you train, all you think about [is], “There is no tomorrow.” Everything we train for, doesn’t matter what they throw at you. You’re going in the ring. You’re going to win. You get hit with just a couple jabs. Yeah, she might have been hit hard. I’m sure she’s been hit harder.
TRUMP: Did you see it?
COMPTON: Yeah, I was watching.
TRUMP: She got hit — beautiful girl — hit by two jabs and that was the end of it. That’s interesting. So, in other words, she should have gotten the shit knocked out of her?
COMPTON: No, she could’ve gotten in there and scrapped and go win!
TRUMP: This guy’s a nasty — he’s a nasty guy!
Trump then randomly brought up weightlifting before saying, “Let’s get back to your question,” and claiming it was another example of “the weave.”
