Bill Maher: Why Can’t Democrats ‘Make Treason a Campaign Issue?’

Bill Maher tonight asked why Democrats can’t make “treason” a campaign issue.

Maher noted how the argument against Hillary Clinton involved the mishandling of classified material, but then there’s all this drama in the White House about security clearances, particularly with Jared Kushner.

“The level of how ostentatiously corrupt they are,” Maher said, going through all the Kushner stories of the week, “they don’t care.”

Jon Meacham said that kind of thing was pretty “self-evident from the beginning.”

Maher asked, “Why can’t the Democrats make treason a campaign issue, then? I mean, if it’s that open, and I think it is––I don’t know why, they don’t seem to be making it an issue, they seem to be shrinking it as an issue.”

He invoked the impeachment campaign that’s being led by Tom Steyer.
