Louisiana police have identified a drowning death victim as the sister of CNN anchor Don Lemon, as reported by WBRZ.
L’Tanya “Leisa” Lemon Grimes, 58, died Wednesday after falling into a neighborhood pond in what authorities are referring to as a fishing accident. Foul play is not suspected at this time, an official with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
Grimes, Lemon’s older sister, is from the Denham Springs area of Louisiana, a small town just outside of Baton Rouge.
A CNN spokesperson has confirmed the death to Mediaite and released a statement from the family.
“The Lemon/Grimes family would like to thank everyone for their condolences and prayers at this time,” the statement read. “Our family has suffered the tragic loss of L’Tanya ‘Leisa’ Lemon Grimes and we are leaning on each other for strength at this time. We appreciate privacy as we grieve the loss of our loved one.”
Members of the media have expressed condolences to the newsman.
