Fox News’s Gregg Jarrett Goes Full-Conspiracist on Mueller: ‘KGB That Comes For You in the Dark of Night’
Fox News analyst Gregg Jarrett appeared on Hannity Wednesday night and delivered a pretty astonishing series of claims about special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.
Jarrett, who has been highly critical of the Mueller investigation, believing it harms American-Russia relations, declared on Hannity: “I think we now know that the Mueller investigation is illegitimate and corrupt.”
Jarrett bases that bold assertion on recent news that an FBI agent was removed from Mueller’s team last summer after he sent texts that were critical of President Donald Trump.
“Mueller has been using the FBI as a political weapon,” Jarrett continued, though he did not provide much evidence for the declaration, before going full-blown tinfoil hat conspiracist:
“The FBI has become America’s secret police. Secret surveillance, wiretapping, intimidation, harassment and threats. It’s like the old KGB that comes for you in the dark of night, banging through your door.”
“And by the way, this is not a game,” Sean Hannity gravely exclaimed. “This is not hyperbole you’re using here.”
“Ask Paul Manafort,” Jarrett said, referring to the former Trump campaign chairman who was indicted on 12 counts, including conspiracy against the United States. “They came for him, and broke through his front door in the dark of night.”
“And if it happened to him, Gregg —” Hannity said.
“It can happen to all of us,” Jarrett warned. “The FBI is a shadow government now.”
It’s worth noting that Jarrett’s colleague at Fox News, Andrew Napolitano, provided a slightly less hysterical take on the Mueller probe, which is worth a watch before you don your finest tinfoil hat.
