Peter King: Seems Like CIA Director Is Orchestrating ‘Hit Job’ Against Trump

Congressman Peter King, who has been on a tear against intel community leaks about Russian election interference, pointed the finger at CIA Director John Brennan during an appearance on ABC’s This Week this morning.

The Washington Post reported Friday on a message Brennan sent saying that after meeting with FBI Director James Comey and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, “there is strong consensus among us on the scope, nature, and intent of Russian interference in our presidential election.”

King today said that he accepts Russia hacked the DNC, but it’s unclear they also targeted John Podesta. And then he accused the head of the CIA of leaking information:

“And that’s what infuriates me about this, Martha, is that we have John Brennan––supposedly John Brennan––leaking to The Washington Post, to a biased newspaper like The New York Times, findings and conclusions that he’s not telling the intelligence committee… There should be an investigation of what the Russians did but also an investigation of John Brennan and the hit job he seems to be orchestrating against the president-elect.”

Martha Raddatz asked if he really thinks this is “all political.” He said he has yet to hear this assessment or any evidence backing it up in a briefing before the House Intelligence Committee.

A few minutes later, he clarified that if it’s not Brennan leaking, then “he should be carrying out a full-scale investigation to find out who in the intelligence community is talking to the media on this issue when they’re not talking to the elected representatives.”
