Good Morning Britain Hosts Deliver On Promised Sausage Rolls For Runner Russ Cook
Good Morning Britain hosts Ed Balls and Kate Garraway delivered good on their promise to have some Gregg’s sausage rolls in the studio for runner Russ Cook’s arrival, in honour of its achievement of having run the length of Africa for charity.
Cook appeared in the London studio Wednesday for an interview and was presented with half a dozen sausage rolls in a luxury black and gold box to celebrate.
On Monday the runner, known online as Hardest Geezer, completed his landmark 10,100-mile run from the southernmost to the northernmost points of Africa – finishing at the Mediterranean coastline in Tunisia. The journey took him through 16 countries and helped him raise over £690,000 for charity.
Garraway wasted no time in presenting Cook with the treats: “Important question, have you had your sausage roll yet?”
The guest replied: “Yeah, got straight off the plane yesterday. Sausage roll, double cheeseburger, pizza, ice cream, all in one go.”
The host asked: “Are you done with sausage rolls?”
“Nah,” Cook replied. “I had one yesterday and I wanted to go back for more, but I also wanted to make room for others.”
A producer brought the box on set as Garraway commentated: “Look at this. Oh, look at that.”
Taking his prize, Cook joked: “Oh, that’s a posh one, isn’t it? The gold collection. Moving on up in the world.”
Balls joined in: “It’s either a very big sausage roll or there’s more than one.”
Garraway continued: “Yeah, I think there’s quite a few in there. There’s a good selection. So, look, you’re back. You’re still obsessed with your sausage rolls and your steak bakes. You deserve this. This is your gold tree. We won’t be tucking in, don’t you worry, but we don’t want to take your tree.”
