A police wanted poster raised eyebrows on Monday over its uncanny resemblance to US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

The UK’s Kent Police released the computer-generated wanted poster on Monday, along with a caption identifying the figure as a suspect “in connection with a burglary in Tunbridge Wells.”

According to a press release, the suspect is accused of breaking into a 90-year-old woman’s home earlier this month and falsely identifying himself as a police officer, before leaving empty handed.

Social media users were quick to point out the similarities in appearance between the wanted man and Transport Secretary Buttigieg, with Buttigieg’s official portrait bearing a strong resemblance to the computer-generated mockup.

“His name is Pete Buttigieg. You can find him at 1200 New Jersey Ave, SE Washington DC,” wrote one user, while another commented that the mockup looked as if Buttigieg had been “trapped” in a PlayStation 2.

That’s where the similarities ended, however.

Kent Police described the suspect as a man in his 30s with a broken front tooth and a dirty appearance. Buttigieg, meanwhile, is 42, of typically clean appearance, and is not known to have ever set foot in Tunbridge Wells.

Police have urged local residents to check doorbell cameras and dash cams for footage of the mysterious suspect.
