S.E. Cupp and All-Female Panel Share #MeToo Stories: ‘An Anchor Grabbed My Ass’
It was pure coincidence that S.E. Cupp Unfiltered showcased an all-female panel discussing sexual harassment on Thursday night. The show had already been planned. But the fact that the conversation took place less than 24 hours after the bombshell harassment allegations surfaced against Mark Halperin — one of the most visible journalists in all of political media — only served to underscore the importance of this hour of television.
Host S.E. Cupp, the Daily Beast‘s Erin Gloria Ryan, USA Today’s Christine Brennan, Essence contributor Midwin Charles, and CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota shared their #MeToo stories on Thursday night’s program — stories that Cupp said she hoped would serve to inspire other women to speak openly about their experience.
Cupp went first, detailing three incidents — two of which she described as “very clearly sexual harassment.”
“One, an anchor grabbed my ass,” Cupp said. “Another, I was on set with a Senator who under the table grabbed my thigh as we were on camera.”
The third case involved a news anchor making a lewd comment while Cupp was on a satellite linkup with the anchor in the studio.
“I’m in this little room, and I put my ear[piece] in to hear him,” Cupp said. “And he says, ‘Welcome, S.E. I just want you to know, I’ve been calling you c-cup around the office’…
“What an idiot,” Cupp added. “I’m miked, you’re miked. You’re saying this over — on an ear piece! And I thought, okay, we’re not even in the same location and I’m pretty sure that was just sexual harassment.”
