Ardi Rizal is the two-year old Indonesian boy who became world famous due to the sadly hilarious (or hilariously sad?) video of him chain smoking that went viral. Well the coda to this weird and wonderful story is, in fact, a happy ending. With the help from the government of Indonesia, and an intensive intervention program, the toddler has given up smoking! And the world healed just a little bit.

Austrialia’s News.com reports:

A 2-year-old Indonesian boy who used to smoke approximately two packs of cigarettes a day has finally kicked the habit after receiving intensive therapy, Agence France-Presse reported.

A TWO-year-old Indonesian boy who smoked about 40 cigarettes a day has kicked the habit after receiving intensive specialist care, a child welfare official says.

Ardi Rizal shocked the world when a video of him drawing heavily on cigarettes appeared on the internet in May and drew attention to Indonesia’s failure to regulate the tobacco industry.

“He has quit smoking and the most important thing is he doesn’t ask for cigarettes any more,” national commission for child protection secretary-general Arist Merdeka Sirait said.

Check the video that brought the world to its knees.
