Megyn Kelly Indignant Over Stephen Colbert’s Planned Congressional Testimony
Yesterday news broke that Stephen Colbert would be testifying “in character” before the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law, which understandably got a lot of head’s scratching. While seem to have lauded the absurdity of this “performance,” others have, perhaps correctly questioned what the hell is going on? Take Fox News’ Megyn Kelly, for example.
Kelly had on as guest to America Live Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R – UT) to discuss the oddly planned testimony from the Comedy Central funny man. Kelly’s general sentiment can best be summed up when she asked “how are the American people supposed to take the Democrats claims seriously, that they are taking immigration seriously?” later hedging a bit by adding “with all due respect to Stephen Colbert, who’s a brilliant comedian, but he is not an expert on immigration.”
Chaffetz showed some deft media training (and stunning congressional self awareness) by responding “we’re not here to make Comedy Central look good, we do that all by ourselves!”
