Megyn Kelly Indignant Over Stephen Colbert’s Planned Congressional Testimony

video

Yesterday news broke that Stephen Colbert would be testifying “in character” before the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law, which understandably got a lot of head’s scratching. While seem to have lauded the absurdity of this “performance,” others have, perhaps correctly questioned what the hell is going on? Take Fox News’ Megyn Kelly, for example.

Kelly had on as guest to America Live Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R – UT) to discuss the oddly planned testimony from the Comedy Central funny man. Kelly’s general sentiment can best be summed up when she asked “how are the American people supposed to take the Democrats claims seriously, that they are taking immigration seriously?” later hedging a bit by adding “with all due respect to Stephen Colbert, who’s a brilliant comedian, but he is not an expert on immigration.”

Chaffetz showed some deft media training (and stunning congressional self awareness) by responding “we’re not here to make Comedy Central look good, we do that all by ourselves!”

Megyn, honey, it’s time to take your Xanax. You will feel better.

  • AFM

Jason Chaffetz your right you are a big joke.

  • BatBoy

Congress might as well bring in the comedians.

The Democrats have been a joke for the last few years.

Then again, maybe it is part of Michelle’s Arts for the WH!

  • TeaPartyPatriot

Come on!!! There’s more than enough clowns in congress without having to bring in another one. If the Judicial Committee wants a laugh, why don’t they just have al franken “testify”. Perhaps he could do it dressed in his famous big baby diaper.

  • Azarkhan

The Democrats in control of Congress are a joke and Stephen Colbert is on the Comedy Channel. Sounds like a match made in heaven.

  • Some_Dude

I like my news actresses less indignant.

First off, when you say “Colbert Report” both have a silent “t”. Very important.

Secondly, unlike many people on the on either side of that issue, at least he sacked up and went out there to see what it’s like, to see that it’s real work. And you could see even in an in character interview, this is something he cares about.

9 out of 10 people that appear before Congress are boring as hell.Colbert just screwing around will probably give this issue a bigger profile than the real experts that might benefit from Colbert as a great opening act. Can’t imagine Beck before Congress he would just be so scared being out of his element he would just shit in his pants.

With all the hate the repubs/teapartiers have brought to the public discourse, a good laugh will be WELCOME. Don’t miss the DC rally on the 30th! In my opinion.

  • Arch

I suspect (and hope) he won’t testify “in character.” I guess we’ll see.

Regarding the mock rage hard-on from the tea baggers: this happens on occasion, for levity. I think Elmo or some other Sesame Street puppet appeared before Congress in 2002 or 2003. Big fucking deal.

  • SpineCrusher

LL Cool J is who the Republican’ts trust, but not Colbert? HAHAHA!

Angel, honey, time to douche that dried up layer of cunt funk out of your stink hole. Then we’ll all feel better.

Steven addressed this last night. He’s paying all his own expenses, and only speaking for a few minutes. He also mentioned Elmo. Her righteous indignation is based on not really knowing what she’s talking about. And that’s the news. Wait, is she supposed to be news or opinion? It’s so hard to tell over there.

I didn’t know we had 13 year olds posting here. Listen sonny. Talking dirty may impress your juvenile friends but it really just makes you look like a punk.

  • notsofast

I like Megyn Kelley when Ive caught her – mostly because i think shes funny –

    so lighten up woman!

Im a giant supporter of the UFW and they are trying to draw attention to their positions with this stunt and it worked…

hell- Obama STOLE their motto – “Si se Puede” (YES WE CAN) even though the UFW was 1000% behing Hillary Clinton! (never heard that from the Obama-Media did ya?

  • paul1149

Hard to believe, but the Dems actually have taken Congress to another new low. Every single one of them should be sent packing.

  • shootfromthehip

Hard to believe you are over 14, “paul1149.”

Go sell your stupid talking points on Fox’s website.

  • beavoux

Deal with it! Ya overpaid Douchebag!
