New Herman Cain Campaign Ad Accuses Mainstream Media Of ‘High Tech Lynching’

video

Yesterday, Herman Cain’s campaign manager, Mark Block, made a point of shying away from previous statements he had made connecting the leak of Cain’s old sexual harassment settlements with Rick Perry’s team. Considering how badly those accusations were received, it’s not surprising that the rest of Cain’s campaign has followed Block in backtracking, returning to their original target, the media, as well as their original suspected motivation, racism. The ad accuses the entire mainstream media of a “high tech lynching” in their coverage of that story.

In addition to sounding like the least fun video game ever, “high tech lynching” is a term that was coined by Clarence Thomas during his sexual scandal in 1990. The new Cain ad uses the original footage of Thomas saying it as its climax. The clip (which, if you look closely, was apparently downloaded using a DivX codec) comes at the ad’s end, following a number of inflammatory quotes from such race-baiting fools as Cornel West and Harry Belafonte as well as reliable voices of reason like Rush Limbaugh.

Will a return to a race-based focus work for Cain in the weathering of this now surprisingly prolonged storm? It’s hard to say but it will definitely do better than accusing Perry did.

Really though, this is all my long-winded way of saying the ad could’ve used some more Krista Branch.

If you feel that you’re the victim of a “high tech lynching”, don’t blame the media… “Blame Yourself”!!

  • Anonymous

One minute he’s blaming it on Perry, next he’s flipping out his race card.  What a despicable hypocrite.   Wasn’t this the guy stating that race was no longer holding anyone back?  That’s exactly what the tea baggin racists want to hear.

Herman Cain!  House negro to the tea party.

I guess he shouldn’t have looked at the farmers daughter that way…..

You’re right. What you just said didn’t come off bigoted at all…..

  • Harry Flashman

Harry Belafonte, a has been Calypso singer who basically survives at this point because he’s famous for being famous, tells us that Cain, a man with a Master’s Degree in Engineering from Colombia University and very successful CEO is denied intelligence.

Will the last brain cell leaving Belafonte’s brain turn off the light, please?

    Harry Belafonte .

Come Mister Tally-man , tally his IQ points .

Herman Cain said this is all about race.. and he is right. He only sexually harasses white women. He respects black women and married one. White men should be embarrassed how they sell out their mothers and daughters while Cain fund-raises off their harassment.

how can there be racism for Cain–WHEN CAIN JUST CLAIMED RACISM IS NOT A FACTOR IN AMERICA???
do these guys really understand the who flip flop thing and that it is not a contest to see who can do it more???

WASHINGTON (AP) — The American economy added 80,000 jobs in October, and job growth in the two previous months was much stronger than first thought, an encouraging sign as the nation searches for a way out of the jobs crisis. The unemployment rate dropped to 9 percent from 9.1 percent, the first time it has fallen since July, the government said Friday.

I want to know how Cain got into Columbia.  Also, where’s his grades?

  • joe

“Presidential candidate Herman Cain said Sunday that he didn’t believe racism was a major factor holding minorities back in AmericaPresidential candidate Herman Cain said Sunday that he didn’t believe racism was a major factor holding minorities back in America”

so like most cons–it is bad when it affects them badly–and good when they can exploit for gain and to hurt others????
i would really hate to have to look at myself and know that i was this much of a liar, phony and coward and thse Conservative frauds..
    really…
how can they look at their children—what a dissapointment as men, fathers, sons and Americans–
if HERB was my father–i would slap the black out of him–fo’ real now~

I will be voting for Governor Gary Johnson for president! End the wars, balance the budget, equal rights for LGBT and legalize marijuana! This guy is exactly who America needs in The White House! The People’s President.

LMAO “Don´t let the left do it again?”

Clarence Thomas is a Justice at the Supreme Court and in bed with the Koch brothers. I agree the “left”
    should never do that again.

I know, corporations are people, 9-9-9 is a great tax system for the poor and the middle class, and Cain never lied about the sexual harassment allegations.

On top of it, it´s a matter withing the GOP party. The “left” has no say in the GOP candidate race.

This ad is so utterly lunatic and crazy, it´s gonna be fun to see Colbert/Maher/Stewart ripping it apart and crush it to pieces.

Has anybody seen Cain´s birth certificate yet? Just asking….

“a Master’s Degree in Engineering from Colombia University…”

BS Mathematics - Morehouse College 1967
    MS Computer Science – Purdue – 1971

Not hard to check the facts.

  • Harry Flashman

Sorry…thought it was Colombia. My mistake. Doesn’t change the facts, though. Still an Ivy League degree.

  • Harry Flashman

    See the above.

  • CosmosDan

     Loved it.

  • Anonymous

Purdue is not Ivy league.  Quit hyping his credentials.

  • CosmosDan

Right. They just blamed Perry but now our add says Don’t let the LEFT do it again.  Again? Are they talking about Thomas?

  • CosmosDan

So the opinion of an elderly celebrity bothers you more than the dishonesty of the presidential candidate and this ad?

  • CosmosDan

All that sounds good to me.

  • CosmosDan

For all the talk about race during Obama’s campaign and after he was elected I don’t remember him going there.  Am I wrong.

I find it disturbing that this candidate goes so readily to the race issue in trying to deflect the facts about his own past.

  • Michelle

He doesn’t get his hands dirty, he has his minions that surround him and the corrupt, liberal media to do it.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_A4OJ2F7ADXSD7OMEUUEQDQDZ2Y Dustin Baker

When will Mediaite do a story on how the mainstream media is so distrusted that when they drop a self proclaimed “bombshell” on a conservative candidate his poll numbers and contributions GO UP?  Then said conservative candidate makes an ad bashing the mainstream media to boost his numbers even more.  That’s a pretty incredible dynamic that is ignored by sites like Mediaite.

  • Anonymous

Cain was a disaster this week, so instead of dealing with the issue and moving on, he changes the dialogue to race. You are correct, Obama did not pull the race card 1/10 th of the time that Cain has.

  • Anonymous

    Perfect post

  • van

go away racist, there are enough of you liberals here to begin with

  • van

The SCOAMF pulled a race card on Bill Clinton and you idiots ate it up.  The only defence this current moron president offers is racism.  Get a clue

  • Michelle

One word for you, JournOlist.  The lapdogs in the media did it for him.

  • Anonymous

That story would not be complete without mentioning that segment of the population that refuses to accept reality.  It is amusing to watch paranoid Fox News-ers decry the “mainstream media bias” while failing to realize a) Fox News is part of the mainstream media and b) Fox News is just as biased as any “mainstream” news organization they whine about being biased.

The sooner these Fox News zealots recognize their own internal bias (soon might be a little optimistic) the sooner they can digest stories from sites like Mediaite without feeling the need to regurgitate the same hot-winded rhetoric about media bias, especially when the truth is inconvenient (See:  Herman Cain followers)

  • Pablo

It isn’t racism. It’s racialism. The problem is that Cain isn’t black, it’s that he’s a black Conservative.

You know what a runaway slave gets, right?

  • Anonymous

Herb Cain is disgusting.  If nothing else this past week has shown us one thing; how easily Herb lies when he feels his back is against the wall.

  • Pablo

Did you watch the ad? It says who they’re talking about. It also isn’t specifically about these alleged allegations of something or other.

  • Pablo

“Day, me say day, me say day, me say day. Me say day, me say day-ay-ay-o. Daylight come and me wan’ go home
    ” – Harry Belafonte

  • Anonymous

So the lapdogs  had two woman get sexual harassment settlements fom the NRA, held onto to the information for 11 years in hopes of Herman running for office, just so they could stick it to a black conservative. Sounds unlikely. Maybe Mr. Cain should stop changing his stories and accept responsibilty for his actions.

  • Anonymous

The funniest part was Clarence Thomas saying he thinks for himself!

  • Anonymous

    I don’t believe he is.
I don’t think most of them know what it means.

It will interesting to see if one of the ladies in question is able to come forward and make her own statement, freed from the restraints of the Confidentiality Agreement.

Even more interesting to hear more incisive and well thought out Herman Cain Foreign Policy Plans.

Keep it up Mr Cain, it’s going very spectacularly well.

Looking forward to the next debate…

Do you know what Ivy League means?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_A4OJ2F7ADXSD7OMEUUEQDQDZ2Y Dustin Baker

How do you explain Cain’s poll numbers and contributions going up after this “scandal”?

It’s clear that the vast majority of our population doesn’t trust our mainstream media.  That’s a pretty big story.  Especially for a web site that covers “the media”.

  • Tennisbalz2000

nothing says future president better than swooshing graphic sound effects! brought to you by divx.

A runaway slave gets welcomed by liberals, you mean?

  • Guest

They went up because Republicans rally to their own when they feel “under attack,” regardless of whether or not they’re really under attack, and regardless of whether or not their own are the one(s) in the wrong.  Just look at all the money and support Rep. Joe Wilson received after yelling, “You lie!” at the President.  Everyone say what happened, and everyone knew what he did was inappropriate and wrong, but Republicans still blindly supported him.  That’s just how it goes.

  • http://gregingleright.weebly.com/ Greg

In the past Cain has made similar claims.

While presiding over a review of “Godfathers” comment cards Cain declared a “…golf pencil evisceration of my precious flesh.”

While chairman of the Omaha branch of the “fed” Herman describe opposition to expansion of the asset backed securities markets as “…regulatory regicide by dastardly immolation”.

The cons have found 2 blacks they like. One they made a sup ct justice and now the other guy they want to make the president. Well actually 3 including colin Powell, yet another C student pushed past more deserving individuals.

Mediaite is probably jealous they weren’t lumped in with the rest in the cool free-floating logos shot.

Also, Mediaite – withholding the fact from the headline, title and body of the article that the ad was produced by a group of outside supports; leaving the impression that it was produced and distributed by the Cain campaign.  As opposed to, say, independent PACs from the left that are clearly distinguished as being unrelated to the Obama campaign.  Subtle, that.

Also, Mediaite – “. . . race-baiting fools as Cornel West and Harry Belafonte as well as reliable voices of reason like Rush Limbaugh.” – outright characterizations – even as they were meant to be sarcastic – in straight news stories.  Subtle, that.

Also, Mediaite – “The ad accuses the entire mainstream media of a “high tech lynching” in their coverage of that story.” – going straight into a descriptive characterization of the ad without it first being introduced.  Subt…no, now that’s just plain bad writing.

Keep at it!  You’ll make it someday.

How many of these jobs are public sector (government)? Just askin’…

LGBT already have equal rights. What they often do not have is enough class to keep their personal business to themselves, thereby inviting all sorts of unpleasantness upon themselves. Go figure…

It isn’t a high tech lynching your a sheep of Brent Brozell playing the race card as Condi Rice said this week. And I’m sick of both sides playing the race when it fits there needs. So all claims are baseless without facts or proof.

  • http://www.facebook.com/sootsme Ed Williams

I watch a lot of Fox News, and I am absolutely biased- in favor of people who exercise personal responsibility and initiative, and work like hell to get what they want and need for themselves and their families, rather than feeding at the public trough. America became the greatest nation in the world in very short order, all without the benefit of government welfare. This could be considered a clue, folks… I will absolutely keep my God, guns, and gold…you are welcome to my share of the “change.”

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_SIYF5565LXG7BBKTKGSSFWU7TA The Rock

So sick of the lynching crap and the race card being played. I’m sick of both sides playing the race card when it fits there needs.

  • http://www.facebook.com/sootsme Ed Williams

Since when, especially in America, is telling the truth “inappropriate and wrong”? The documented lies told by our current president are quite numerous, and deserve all the exposure possible in any and every available venue. Maybe, just maybe, said exposure will wake some folks up from their public education/media induced stupor. Hope, indeed, does spring eternal…

  • Anonymous

So all claims are baseless without facts or proof.

Indeed, there are no less than THREE claims that have no face, form or supportive details hovering around Herman Cain in the media – all on the front page, and the first 5 minutes of national news programs.

But as you say, if claims have no facts or proof, they’re baseless (or at least only on the level of allegations) and should rightly receive far less profile.  No?

    See what I did there?

  • http://www.facebook.com/sootsme Ed Williams

Actually, Powell is way more liberal than conservative. Now, Allen West, *there’s* a conservative. Oh yeah, he is also black. Bill Cosby is also conservative- and black. What exactly is your point? My point is that anyone, black, white, or green, can be a conservative, and those who choose this path often do very well in life. I invite y’all to get some…

  • Gary Carroll

that add realy hits you were it hurts because you know its true you just dont want to believe the ones still in the democrat party is the house negro’s

  • Gary Carroll

give it to those racist jerks i am with herman cain on this one its all because he is black and a conservative i dont under stand why the democrats feel like blacks have to vote with them or they are going down ! let everyone vote how they want and think like they want

Since before 2008, the Lame Stream Media has lied and misled the American people.  They have sold their souls to Obambi and his Horde of Demons and it is so sickening how they take up and lie for Obama’s horrible leadership.  One bright side, Obama will be gone in 2012, there is no doubt about it.  He has shown he hates America, the Constitution, and any and every thing that gets in his Narcisist way, especially White People and Christians.  Obama deserves Prison, not the Oval Office.

  • Fred

its funny how the media stumbles over themselves running negative  segments on whoever is the front runner on the right ?    But remember there is not liberal bias in the news …..

  • steveknows

Nah, blame the media, blame anyone you can, but never blame yourself. It’s a sign of weakness.
In fact, his sexual harassment is seen as a good thing by his followers. Has one of them expressed the slightest amount of concern for his victims, or viewed his behavior in a negative light? Of course not.

  • steveknows

No. The problem is that he a conservidiot, and, as such, makes moronic statements, and takes moronic positions, as a matter of course. His race is irrelevant, except to other morons, like yourself, who try to make an issue of it, in order to deflect attention from his real issues.
Don’t think, for a second, that any liberal will ever be fooled by such transparent crap. Of course, as someone who themself is fooled by it, it’s likely that this all is over your head.

  • steveknows

He”s lost about 23% of voters who said this incident would cause them not to vote for him.
But it’s all academic. He’s not going to be nominated, much less elected.

  • steveknows

    How typically stupid of you.
The media covers the front runner. Should they not? Should they ignore him?
The only people running this time are the repugnantans.
There is no Democratic Party race.
    Are you unconscious?
