New Terrifying Video From Japan Shows People Outrunning The Approaching Tsunami

Video

Newly-released video from Japan shows just how sudden tsunamis can be. The footage shows several people walking in a lot bordered by a tree-lined slope when, suddenly, they break into a run to get away from the rising water as it approaches – quickly – several feet behind them. As people scramble to higher ground, screaming, cars and other debris are carried away by the fast-moving water.

The footage is quite shaky as the camera person is, obviously, running from the rising water, but it still manages to convey the terror and panic of being caught unawares by a natural disaster

Nice to see Mediaite making some $$$ over the disaster. More power to you.

I hope America’s people can outrun the Obama Tsunami.

    Absolutely terrifying…

Was that Michael Moore doing the filming? Never mind, he wouldn’t have been able to lug his fat ass out of the way in time.

LOL!! If there is one thing Mediaite commenters are absolutely terrific at, it’s turning every single article posted on this site political.

You had people writing disgusting op-eds to not support these people because they weren’t on their pre-approved list for redistributive justice. In my estimation, there was far too little of this type of ‘disaster porn’ to hammer home the actual devastation suffered by the Japanese before the media became enamored in fantasies of nuclear disaster and mushroom clouds and for the most part pre-empted it; it was only a week later that they started practically ignoring the earthquake/tsunami angle altogether when we started bombing Libya.

In Haiti, in contrast, there were weeks of disaster coverage and pleas for charitable support; in spite of the very likely possibility that the kleptocratic leadership there would pocket that given in good will; as was the result. Half a billion dollars were pitched at Haiti for very little result. Nine times the amount raised for Japan thus far was raise for Katrina; and by comparison to both aforementioned disasters, a few people’s feet got wet. At least in Japan’s case there’s the assurance that any money given is actually going to do good. But, for some reason, the story was under reported; and fund raisers have been reliant on the individual.

I approve more ‘disaster porn’ on the basis that it inspires donations.

Yesterday again, the earthquake came in Japan. I think so, this period of time is only for Japan.

Shame on you. Shame on you. Shame on you. What’s the matter with you people? Yes, I said “you people” and by that I lump together all of you imbeciles (Colorado Conservative, I’m looking at you too) who seize EVERY possible moment to turn everything back to a critique of Obama or liberals in general.

You have an opinion? Fine, have it. But you have to be some serious kind of ass*#le to look at a video of people running for their lives at a moment just prior to a disaster in which some 20,000 or more did NOT escape — mothers, children, fathers, sisters, brothers — and then use that as a leaping point for your own pettiness.

God forbid you should ever be the one in a similar crisis situation. Were it I on the hill and you looking for a leg up, I would help just the same because that’s what it is to be human… but you can be damn sure, I wouldn’t like it. You’re an ugly excuse for a person. Just pathetic. If you have any decency whatsoever, you’ll repent from your stupidity and cut a large check immediately to send to a Japanese relief effort.

But… I suspect this is more likely… instead you’ll post some idiotic response below about how right you are to be such a jackass.

    Mediaite:

It doesn’t bother me that you downloaded, then re-posted, my YouTube video so that it conformed to your own video player. But please, don’t publish it with a float-over or pre-roll advertisement.

Every video on my YouTube channel that I have distribution rights to (including the above video) are shown without advertisement, and I frequently opt-out of the YouTube partnership program.

If you’re not going to embed the YouTube video, that’s fine. Just don’t republish my material, or material I have rights to redistribute, with advertisements.

    Cheers,
    -M

You’re really not good at this! May I suggest retiring your keyboard?

Kudos to the filmer running to help instead of continuing to frame the shot.

That is your best response? Are you really that full of hatred for humanity? I thought jackster12 was exceptional good with what was said. Your attitude is what is causing the breakdown of our society and an inability to have civilized discourse without insult. You and your ilk have no bounds to your sense of extremism.

Jackster12-Your point would have gone much further without directing any insults. They diminish the good intention you started with.

You are correct sir! That is how civilized human beings behave toward their fellow man.

Was that camera man committing hari-kari with one hand and holding the camera with the other? just kidding, this is scary stuff.
