WATCH LIVE: 2017 Oscars Red Carpet Coverage
Once again the eyes of the entertainment world will focus squarely on Hollywood, as the 89th Academy Awards takes place hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. The venerable awards show returns to the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California with one of the most highly-anticipated selections of film nominees in recent memory.
Just like last year, ABC will carry the telecast for both the Red Carpet showcase — which begins at 7 p.m. EST — as well as the awards show itself, which kicks off at 8:30 p.m. EST. According to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the broadcast of the event will be televised in more than 220 countries and territories around the world.
The Oscars: All Access programming effort — touted as “the official, live second-screen celebration of The Oscars” — will treat viewers to exclusive interviews with the night’s biggest stars on the Red Carpet as it happens live. Tune into ABC on your television or live stream both events at ABC.com or the ABC app for all the can’t-miss pre-show action from Hollywood Boulevard.
For people looking to experience the Oscars on the internet, cable or satellite subscribers can watch along online at ABC and the ABC.com app as well. There are also regional restrictions to cable subscribers regarding digital access, only for people in the following markets: Chicago, Fresno, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham, and San Francisco. Additionally, DirecTV subscribers will be able to live-stream the event: Albuquerque, Boston, Ft. Smith/Fayetteville, Jackson (Mississippi), Kansas City, Milwaukee, Monterey-Salinas, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Pittsburgh, Portland-Auburn (Maine), Savannah, and West Palm Beach.
