Dick Cheney Tells Erin Burnett: ‘I Wouldn’t Underestimate’ Newt Gingrich

cheney burnett VIDEO

Former Vice-President Dick Cheney appeared as a guest on Erin Burnett OutFront Tuesday night, and hit on topics ranging from what President Barack Obama should have done with the downed drone in Iran to his thoughts on the Arab Spring. Cheney told Burnett that it was his understanding that President Obama had three choices when he learned about the downed drone — sending in people to recover it, destroying it with an airstrike, or asking for them to return it. While Cheney believed the first option would have been very difficult, he told Burnett that the second would have been a much better option than what the President eventually did.

Condoleezza Rice: Moammar Gaddafi’s ‘Black Flower In The White House’

Condoleezza Rice VIDEO

There are probably fewer things scarier in life than an ultra-serious bald man with glasses popping up on a futuristic video conference screen and telling you that you’ve been exposed to a fatal poison and you’re all going to die. But that’s what happened in October 2001, when Dick Cheney showed up on the secure line, sharing the bad news. Condoleezza Rice recounted the incident Tuesday on Nightline to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos.

Capture video

Tonight’s episode of Real Time with Bill Maher featured a passionate debate between Cornel West, a Princeton professor who has attended many of the Occupy Wall Street protests, and Ron Christie, a Republican strategist who previously worked as a staffer for Vice President Dick Cheney. The first topic of discussion after Christie came on the panel was Libya and why Republicans were not willing to give President Obama credit for carrying out the operation.

After Anwar Al-Awlaki Killing Dick Cheney Wants Obama Administration To Apologize

Cheney video

On CNN’s State of the Union today, former vice president Dick Cheney went out of his way to praise the drone strikes that took out a top al-Qaeda member, but asked for the Obama administration to apologize for their previous criticisms of the Bush administration’s “overreaction” to the international terrorism threat.

John King Asks Dick Cheney If He Wrote Book Because His ‘Days Are Numbered’

cheney video

“When writing this book, I don’t mean to sound morbid,” CNN’s John King began, while interviewing former VP Dick Cheney at the Reagan Library, “but were you thinking, ‘My days could be numbered?’”

Mission: not accomplished, Mr. King, but Cheney followed up with a retort that would drop the temperature on Hoth by a couple of degrees: “So are yours.”

Say what you will about Cheney, he owns his persona.

Clinton-1.JPG-316x230 video

The two headline guests on Face the Nation today were Bill Clinton and Dick Cheney, and while the two men did not appear together on screen, Clinton was given the chance to respond to recent compliments the former vice president gave to his wife Hillary Clinton, suggesting his comments were politically motivated.

Liz Cheney To Bill O’Reilly: What Would You Have Done In Iraq? Talked To Saddam?

liz Video

On Thursday night’s The Factor, host Bill O’Reilly invited guest Liz Cheney onto the show while lamenting the fact that her father and co-author Dick Cheney doesn’t seem to like him very much. “What am I, chopped liver?” asked an amused Ms. Cheney. O’Reilly then got right down to the nitty gritty, asking Cheney how her father and former President George H. Bush could have possibly “missed” the danger posed by the sub prime mortgage fiasco.

Ron Paul Hits Back At Dick Cheney By Calling Former Vice President A ‘Dictator’

ronpaul_cheney video

Ron Paul appeared on Your World with Neil Cavuto to strike back at Dick Cheney‘s implicit dis of the Congressman (“There are nominees that I’m not enthusiastic about…not likely to get the nomination”), calling the former Vice President “a dictator.” Host Neil Cavuto paraphrased Cheney’s interview on his show, quoting that he thought the feisty Libertarian didn’t have a chance to become the nominee, and Paul’s stance on “pulling up soldiers boots from around the world” was risky.

Hillary Clinton Says Chances She Will Run Against Barack Obama ‘Below Zero’

hillary video

In a bit of news that’s news to no one, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton threw cold water on the possibility that she might mount a primary challenge to President Obama, then froze that water. Asked Friday, by CNN’s Alison Kosik, if she would consider running in 2012, Clinton said the chances of that were “below zero.”

Dick Cheney Thinks Hillary Clinton Should Challenge Obama In Primary Run

Hillary-Clinton video

“So far she hasn’t said she would, but I think it’s not a bad idea,” Dick Cheney told ABC’s Jonathan Karl in an interview aired last night, sounding hopeful that Hillary Clinton might run in challenge to President Obama, a move he thinks would “be good for the Democratic party and it might even help the Republicans.”

The former Vice President fancies the current Secretary of State “a pretty formidable individual. And I think she’s probably the most competent person they’ve got in their cabinet,” he said with what ABC called “a Darth Vader Smile.”

Dick Cheney On Hillary Clinton: Perhaps She Would Have Made A Better President

DickC video

To promote his new memoir, former vice president Dick Cheney has been making the media rounds, discussing the inner workings of the Bush administration and sharing his thoughts on the policies of the Obama administration. On Fox News Sunday, Chris Wallace asked Cheney if he thinks Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would have been a better president than the current officeholder.

Dick Cheney Talks Thick Skin And Sarah Palin: Doesn’t Understand Why She Resigned As Governor

Dick-Cheney-9.2.11 Audio

Former vice president Dick Cheney stopped by The Laura Ingraham Show, continuing his media blitz to promote his memoir. And while promotional interviews tend to sound like a series of echos after a while (think “enhanced methods of interrogation” played over and over and over on a loop, perhaps as an enhanced method of interrogation) , Cheney managed to offer a little something new regarding none other than former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Donald Trump Thinks Cheney’s Book is “Very, Very Angry and Nasty,” Won’t Be Reading It

donald-trump-300x217 video

In today’s episode of “From The Desk Of Donald Trump,” Donald Trump reviews the book that’s got everyone talking — without having even read it! He knows how he feels, though, and he thinks that Dick Cheney’s memoir, In My Time, is “very, very angry and nasty” and he doesn’t plan on reading it. It’s hard to say if this is Trump’s attempt at literary criticism, media criticism, or if it’s just an ad hominem attack against Cheney.

Dick Cheney Tells Sean Hannity That He ‘Worries Very Much’ About An Obama Second Term

Dick Cheney video

There’s nothing better than having your favorite politicians write a book. Not only do you get to spend a few hundred pages living inside their head and finding out what makes them think, but it also means that there’s going to be a week leading up to the release where they show up on every talk show ever. Currently making the rounds is former Vice President Dick Cheney and Fox News Insider has released a sneak peek clip and some juicy quotes from his appearance tonight on Hannity

Dick Cheney Reveals On Morning Joe: Jay Leno’s Jokes Made Him Tougher

Dick Cheney Morning Joe video

Dick Cheney joined Joe Scarborough on Morning Joe today to discuss his In My Time, “a remarkable memoir by a remarkable man,” according to Scarborough. Cheney warmed the set by sending cupcakes to co-host Mika Brzezinski, who has gotten great laughs at the former VP’s expense in the past, but they were not so sugared up [...]

Dick Cheney: Iraq War Was ‘Sound Policy’ That ‘Eliminated Saddam Hussein’

cheney_today_show_8.30.11 Video

Former Vice President Dick Cheney is, much to the prolonged chagrin of Chris Hayes, continuing on his media blitz in promotion of his memoir. That included a visit to Today, where Cheney told host Matt Lauer that, despite what detractors might say, the war in Iraq was “sound policy.” Lauer kicked things off with a very odd question: Does Cheney think there’s something about his demeanor that has people calling him “divisive”? (The correct response is: “Huh?”) Things became more interesting from there.

Joe Scarborough Suggests Iraq War Might Have Spawned Arab Spring

mj1 video

In discussing former Vice President Dick Cheney‘s cranial grenade of a memoir Monday, Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough seemed to ever-so-gently suggest that the Iraq War had something to do with the Arab Spring, the series of uprisings in Mideast dictatorships. The premise got all the traction of a Yugo on a hockey rink, and even managed to unite The Earth Institute‘s Dr. Jeffrey Sachs and conservative commentator Pat Buchanan in the common cause that Cheney, Bush, and the Iraq War succeeded only in weakening the United States.

Colin Powell: Dick Cheney Taking ‘Cheap Shots’ In New Book

Colin Video

While the main focus on the Sunday news shows today was Hurricane Irene and the government response to the storm, on Face the Nation today, Colin Powell weighed in on the “explosive” new memoir being released by former Vice President Dick Cheney, and responded to many of the charges the former vice president leveled against him.

Chris Hayes, Glenn Greenwald: By Being ‘Polite’ To Dick Cheney, Media Is Helping Create A ‘Moral Hazard’

hayes_greenwald_8.26.11 Video

On Thursday’s The Last Word, Salon blogger Glenn Greenwald joined substitute host Chris Hayes to discuss the “reemergence,” as it would appear, of former Vice President Dick Cheney as he makes the media rounds in promotion of his upcoming memoir, In My Times.

Shockingly, Hayes is less than delighted with the positive reception and attention Cheney’s book has been getting, particularly since Cheney has been telling interviewers that, yes, he still supports waterboarding and other forms of what he calls “enhanced methods of interrogation.” Hayes shared that he initially thought “everyone” at Simon & Schuster, the book’s publisher, should be deeply ashamed of themselves, although he admits he’s since refined and refocused his considerable ire. What troubles him most, he shares, is “the fact that he has managed to escape not only legal sanction for advocating and overseeing the implementation of the war crime that is torture, but that he has appeared to manage to escape social sanction as well.”

The Ed Show Panel Conjures Disturbing Image Of Dick Cheney As Bush’s ‘Security Blanket’

edshow1 video

On a day that has seen a lot of painful (and painfully dull) rehashing of political angst against former Vice President Dick Cheney, pegged to his upcoming autobiography, Ed Schultz’s Cheney panel managed to squeeze out an entertaining wrinkle or two. On Thursday night’s The Ed ShowRing of Fire host Mike Papantonio struggled to keep Cheney’s villainy on par with Dubya’s, while Daily Show co-creator Lizz Winstead was suitably disturbed by the idea of Cheney as Bush’s binky.

Dick Cheney Kept A Resignation Note In Expectation Of Debilitating Heart Attack

dick-cheney

As it turns out, we weren’t the only ones worrying that Dick Cheney was on the verge of suffering a debilitating heart attack while acting as vice president. Apparently, while in office, he kept a signed resignation letter locked away in a safe, secret to all but a few, for just in case. Having successfully survived [...]

Bill Maher Bizarrely Compares Anthony Weiner To Governor ‘Fat Fatty’ Christie

maherweinerchristie Video

He might have resigned, but if you’re talking about politics on television, all roads still lead back to Anthony Weiner. Bill Maher brought up the disgraced ex-politician on his show in an attempt to demonstrate this Weiner’s self-control issues, when compared with those of some other politicians, really aren’t so bad at all. Specifically, Maher had two names in mind – former Vice President Dick Cheney, and New Jersey governor Chris Christie.

Outrage Over Middle School Yearbook List ‘Worst People’: Hitler, Bin Laden, And…George W. Bush

Yearbook video

Here’s an odd story from Russellville Middle School in Arkansas. There’s a bit of a scandal brewing after it was discovered that this year’s yearbook featured a list of the “Top 5 worst people of all time” that named Adolph Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, Charles Manson, George W. Bush, and Dick Cheney. Yikes.

Meanwhile, little seventh grader Kenny McAlary is thrilled no one’s focusing on how he looks cross-eyed in his picture.

Rachel Maddow: Cheney Book Cover ‘Pictorially Makes Him The Guy Who Killed Bin Laden’

Picture 3 video

Dick Cheney‘s new book has a spiffy new cover out, depicting the former vice president looking stately in the White House. That image, from the East Room lighting down to the position of the flag on Cheney’s lapel, has Rachel Maddow feeling a bit of deja vu, and a little bit of outrage, as the picture looks exactly like the image of President Barack Obama announcing that American troops had killed Osama bin Laden.

Ed Schultz Asks If Bush Would Have Exploited Bin Laden Death ‘If He Was Able To Get Him’

edbush Video

On Wednesday night’s The Ed Show, host Ed Schultz “went to work” on accusations by “Slant-head(?)” Sean Hannity and Rush “The Drugster” Limbaugh that President Obama is using the killing of Osama bin Laden as a campaign tool. His nightly text poll question, “Would Bush have used bin Laden’s death in campaigns if he was able to get him?”, may have been worded to rub it in a little, but the answer is doubly self-evident: Bush exploited his failure to get bin Laden, and his old team is exploiting bin Laden’s death now.
