Rachel Maddow: Who Was Paying Bart Stupak’s C-Street Rent?

Picture 5 video

Now that Congressman Bart Stupak is back in the national conversation thanks to his announcement yesterday that he would hold up the health care bill unless stricter language regarding government funding of abortion was added, he is also back in the sights of Rachel Maddow! He may not be too thrilled with the results.

Stupak Is Back! Threatening To Derail HCR Unless Anti-Abortion Language Added

You remember Congressman Bart Stupak, he took a starring role in the health care debate back in November when he strong-armed his Stupak amendment into the House version of the Health Care bill. Well, he’s back. Big time.

Bloggers Respond to Keith Olbermann on Ben Nelson ‘Air Force Base-gate’

On last night’s Countdown, Keith Olbermann ran a segment attempting to debunk the story that the White House had threatened Senator Ben Nelson (D-Nebraska) with the closure of Offut Air Force Base in order to secure his vote on healthcare reform. The White House and Ben Nelson categorically deny the charge. Who’s right, and who’s wrong? Plus, Mediaite has exclusive reaction from Lewis and Goldfarb:

Rachel Sklar On Julie Menin’s Give And Take

Mediaite in the News

Remember a few weeks back when Ann Coulter was on Julie Menin‘s show talking about Maxine Waters and racking up the pageviews on HuffPo and this site in her usual, controversial way? Well, that probably won’t happen with Menin’s latest interview, which was with me. Still, I enjoyed it, mostly because Menin is a smart, [...]

Is The Media Gearing Up For Another Near Death Panel Experience?

Congressman Earl Blumenauer‘s timeline detailing how the end-of-life provisions he added to the health care bill became — with the powerful helping hand of Sarah Palin– is fascinating in a number of regards, but specifically because Palin is once again about to be handed a very large microphone. Is the MSM prepared to vet the next vicious news cycle?

Shots From The Left: MSNBC Takes On Obama Administration Too

With Democrats running the executive and legislative branches of government, some might expect MSNBC to be the cheerleader for the current D.C. situation.

But while it’s not anywhere near Fox News in its criticism, MSNBC has taken some recent shots at the way the Democrats are doing business – knocking the left, from the left.

Isn’t It Ironic: Stupak Campaign Steeped in Abortion Cash

With the House’s passage of a health care reform bill that includes the now-infamous Stupak Amendment, abortion has become a hot topic this week. As a result, the RNC was embarrassed to find out that it’s health insurance plan has covered elective abortions since 1991. Pro-life Democrats, then, might be interested to know that Rep. Bart Stupak (D – Mi) has received large campaign contributions for years from 2 group that make money selling insurance that covers elective abortions.

Obama: ‘This Is A Health Care Bill, Not An Abortion Bill’

video

ABC News’ (and recent Office Hours guest) Jake Tapper interviewed President Obama earlier today. Interesting to note Tapper’s first question is about the Stupak amendment. I suspect that in the coming days that last-minute addition may trump the public option in terms of what the cablers (and the protesters) decide to focus on.

Will Obama Lose The Health Care Bill Over Stupak?

video

Much of the day-after health care bill coverage has focused on the GOP Senators (and Joe Lieberman) who intend to stall the bill in the Senate unless the public option is removed. However yesterday on Meet the Press Rachel Maddow took the time to note how the Stupak amendment, which restricts funding for abortion unless it’s the result of rape or incest, might complicate things for President Obama going forward.
