Bill O’Reilly And Code Pink Founder Agree On ‘Hypocrisy’ Of MSNBC’s War Coverage

Video

Bill O’Reilly and Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin strangely agreed regarding the mainstream liberal reaction to President Obama’s efforts in Libya. However, when it came to discussing American involvement in Libya, O’Reilly and Benjamin could not have disagreed more.

O’Reilly played clips of Rachel Maddow and Ed Schultz both suggesting that Obama deserves the benefit of the doubt and is essentially a reluctant warrior who might go to war, but at least rallies the international community. O’Reilly doubted that if President George W. Bush took the exact same steps he would have received such a positive reaction. Benjamin agreed, saying “hypocrisy comes to mind,” and ultimately wished Obama’s policy was being subjected to harsher scrutiny by everyone in the media.

Benjamin argued that Obama “is a president who has given us more war, not less war” and seemed to think that he wasn’t deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize. Benjamin and O’Reilly got along great until O’Reilly switched the topic to what actually should be done with Libya. Benjamin re-argued that the Iraq war was not worth fighting and that intervention in Libya now isn’t justified either.

If anyone should know about cheer leading a war it’s Bill O’Reilly.

    RRKing ,giddily . I have a pashmina just like Medea’s !

RealRoyalKing ® , disturbed . I had the most awful day yesterday ! A cougar hit on me at the salon yesterday . A female , slightly older than I am , asked me out ! Even though she claimed to be Betty White’s mother , that held no attraction for me . I’m not switching at this point ! For lunch , as usual , I took the bus downtown to Big-Hearted Larry’s Used Car lot for their tent event . I stood in line for my free hot dog and cup of warm Mr. Pibb , as always . They refused me ! They said after six months of coming in , they knew I was not going to buy a car , so no lunch . Then , on the way back , my do rag caught in the bus door as it was closing . It came off my noggin , and I had I left my toupee at the salon , so it was , like , there it is ! Why me , Lord ? Amen . ©

When you come down to it , it’s all about me , right ?

Why do you put “hypocrisy” in quotes? The position of MSNBC and the left in general is totally hypocritical since they trashed Bush for going to war based on the exact same reasons the left is justifying this new war.

The only thing noteworthy about this segment is Ms. Benjamin’s very good posture. It emphasized Bill-o’s slouchiness.

By truth, you mean Hayseed winning in Arizona, O’Donnell winning in Delaware, Angle winning in Nevada, DADT not passing? Is that what you mean, Marceaux, I mean Blower?

Joe Biden is a jackass. He pounded his fist and stomped his feet when Bush was president, saying that he’d move to impeach is we went to war without Congressional approval.

OK, Joey-the-Mouth…you gonna hide in your room and hope that no one remembers your little tantrum?

    Here’s a reminder: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Adpa5kYUhCA

What a train-wreck the whole Obamo Regime is.

Lets make one thing perfectly clear: there’s not one thing that O’Reilly can’t say that doesn’t make any sense to nobody all of the time.

This was the dumbest segment of all time. Fail.

It’s hardly surprising that a warmongering oaf like O’Reilly is quick to find (alleged) hypocrisy in others. Too bad he fails to recognize it when he looks in a mirror.

More than a few extremist conservatives would gladly blow the entire region to pieces. Maddow and Schultz prefer not to view the Libyan situation in black-and-white terms. Even progressive/liberal radio talker Thom Hartmann (.com) says he’s keeping an open mind about Obama’s actions in Libya. Shame on them for not being doctrinaire absolutists!

Supporting opposition to a despotic regime is far different from illegally invading two countries, as Bush did. (Saddam Hussein only became “despotic” in the eyes of the Bushies when they found his oil more valuable than HE was. 9/11 provided a convenient excuse.)

Even Maddow’s fans must see that there is an enormous gap between Rachel PR campaign — which tries to present her as a serious intellect — and her actual willingness to abandon her values and contort her positions day-by-day to score the most meager partisan points.

Yes, one day, Bart Stupak is denounced by Maddow as evil and we are told that he “lives in a brothel.” But when he turns his support to Obama, Stupak is a great guy (did he move out of the brothel?)

Yes, one day, Joe Lieberman is an impressive political leader. But when he hesitates to vote for a health care bill that no one on the Democrat side has even read, he is vilified in the most heinous manner.

Yes, one day unemployment and economic stagnation are vital stories, but when a Democrat administration is setting economic policy, they aren’t worth reporting.

Yes, signs at conservative events are scrutinized and even the slightest lack of politeness is denounced, but when the protesters are union members in Wisconsin, the vile signs are never given a second’s thought.

Yes, military casualties under the Bush administration are covered extensively, but when record casualties take place in Afghanistan under Obama’s watch, they are never mentioned on air.

Yes, tea party members are denounced as violent (even without a single violent incident at a tea party), but when “peaceful protesters” in Islamic countries assault, abuse, kidnap and shoot American journalists, this is swept under the carpet.

Yes, one day, bombing an Islamic country is evil and the perpetrators in the US government should be sent to prison as war criminals. But when a Democrat administration is doing the bombing it is praised as grand statesmanship.

Maddow should think long and hard about whether she wants to be a serious political pundit or just a party hack that always spins things to benefit the party power structure. You can’t do both. Right now Maddow is operating like the lowest sort of political hack. Even if she changes her approach now, it will take her a long time to regain her credibility. But if she keeps down this path, no one will take her seriously, except the most blind kool-aid drinkers. And having their support doesn’t help anyone’s credibility among serious thinkers.
