Chris Matthews: Tea Party Miners Would’ve Killed Each Other

video

According to the ratings trend in cable news coverage of the Chilean miner rescue, you probably didn’t catch Chris Matthews on Hardball last night. Which is a shame, because Matthews did his best to reward those who did tune in, telling MSNBC viewers that if the miners had been under Tea Party influence, “They wouldn’t have gotten out. They would’ve been killing each other.”

What prompted such a grim assessment from the host? As he told AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, Matthews dislikes the Tea Party tenets, saying:

[The Tea Party believe in every man for himself. … No more taxes, no more government, no more everything. No more safety net. … Make your buck. Save it. Screw the government.

And from this, Matthews arrived at murder:

You know these people, if they were every man for himself down in that mine, they wouldn’t have gotten out. They would’ve been killing each other.

But Matthews ended his grisly turn and finished his analysis on a more optimistic note, confirming that “This is a story of how people can work together.”

And MSNBC wonders why they get beat by the local affiliate news programs. This guy is a joke and should hang it up, at this point.

That’s why you never see any tea party crowds. They’re all hermits. Glad Fox is the only outlet that resorts to hyperbole.

If the tea party were trapped in a mine Chris Matthews would “feel a thrill run up his leg”.

if progressives or MSNBC personalities were trapped in a mine, they’d look for the hardest worker in their group, and feed him to the rest of the group

  • Harry Flashman

Note that the MSM is avoiding mentioning that the miners by and large said that their faith in Jesus Christ helped them get through this ordeal. Wouldn’t wanna mention that, would we?

Oh. And Matthews in an imbecile. “Nuff said.

  • writer

So all tea partiers think alike, and they’re all rugged individualists. Makes perfect sense, Chris.

  • More Liberty

Got to hand it to the Chilli President. His knee jerk reaction wasn’t to stop all mining like Obama did with deep water drilling, then what 50-days to do something. The President told the miners, once they were discovered, that we will get you out and the bureaucrats won’t get in the way.

Matthews was simply pandering to his guest, AFL-CIO head Richard Trumka, who would be happy to kill anyone who does not want to be in a union.

“Every man for himself very man for himself. …No more taxes, no more government, no more everything. No more safety net. … Make your buck. Save it. Screw the government.”

Too bad this is a gross mischaracterization of what the tea party believes in. Which is:

    -Low taxes
    -Limited government (not no government)
    -Self-responsibility
-Individualism (you know, the thing that made this country great)

I couldn’t imagine anyone taking this old man serious or even watch his show…

I guess he does not know the president of Chile and the people are very conservative there. The country of Chile is also one of the strongest economy’s in south America because of there less government views…

Average Americans ask for fiscal responsibility and government accountability, and the mainstream media responds with jokes and insults. We’ll see how this flies with voters come November 2. I have a hunch Matthews won’t be making quite so many jokes as the election results come in.

And while we’re at it Itchy & Scratchy (Matthews & Trumka) why don’t we kill everyone who doesn’t approve of card check too.

  • Harry Flashman

    felix -

No, he won’t be joking. He and Andrea Mitchell will be sobbing in each other’s arms in total meltdown, and Ed Schultz will finally run off with Keith Olbermann and open that little antique shop they’ve long dreamed of. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

    Sigh.

  • Harry Flashman

Itchy and Scratchie. Heh. Good stuff.

  • juan

Who is Chris Matthews and what is MSNBC?

Trumka has probably advised Obama, Axelrod, and Gibbs to stop talking about disclosing donor lists.

  • RIChris

The Chilean miner rescue is a wonderful testament to the human spirit and highlights a government working FOR the people. Thankfully this wasn’t in the US, as Obama would have taken 70 days to mull over what to do, during which time the EPA would have declared the rock rat at risk if drilling ensued and the global warming idiots would celebrate the reduction of 33 carbon footprints.

  • notsofast

CM is just a pathetic, sad angry, loser lib.

  • Big Eddie

If the MSNBC loonies were trapped in a mine , only Chuck Todd would make it out . Cockroaches can survive anything .

  • Rusty Shackelford

Chrissy just needs to lean foward a bit.

  • JimBob

Matthews and Trumka! Two lard asses Leaning Forward >->-
    (_!_) (__!__)

  • Bill Mahwer

What he didnt mention was that if Obama was President of Chile they would still be down in the mine and Obama would be trying to figure out who to sue and whose ass he was going to kick.

“This is a story of how people can work together.”

Matthews will be wanting Fox Nrws to share their huge ratings with him.

  • sarainitaly

i’ve attempted a reply about 10 different times, and all i can say is: gawd he’s an idiot.

glad to see he’s still working hard to make obama’s presidency a success….i guess labeling an entire movement of your fellow americans as murderers and totally misrepresenting their entire belief system is one way to go about it…

At least he wasn’t, you know, like, talking about Muslims.

Yeah it’s amazing how people distort the truth regarding what many people believe in. They call Tea Party people “radical” because they believe that the government should at least be able to balance a budget.

  • Z_man723

oh the Unions would have had their sh*t together down there. I’m not doing anything without my union rep. Meanwhile the union would help out above ground by protesting, then bus over to the guy’s house and harass his family.

what a joke of a segment

MoreLiberty is correct! And since the FY 2010 budget is already finalized, American miners would patriotically wait and see if maybe next year’s budget can cover their rescue. If it involved raising taxes, they would sooner die.

This from a man who WHORED himself out (established on a separate thread) to the Radical Left for an msnbc PAYCHECK!!!!

We don’t turn media personalities into heroes or gods like your people do, PG. All the Marys in Heaven, your worship of the Beckerhead has Baal-like qualities.

really! Between this and the homoerotic comment he’s looking just ridiculous. Maybe we can get Jon S to go on and ask him to stop hurting America.

  • Ted-

He’s right. Imagine tea-baggers trapped for a day let alone a couple of months. They would have clearly died from an insider extreme overdose of stupid; no question.

  • gar

Lucky it was in Chile and not the U.S. The Obama team would still be working on pulling permits to drill.

er, did anybody mention Beck? isn’t this story about Chrissy Matthews and some spurious idea that because Matthews doesn’t like them, tea partiers would kill each other in a mine?

granted, it’s not much of a story, but do try to stay on topic here. there’ll be plenty of time to attack Beck on another thread that’s actually about him, k? (talk about being obsessive about a TV personality!)

hey good job Ted! 12 words and 2 of them profanity: that’s an even better-than-average score for you! next time throw in any two gay or phallic references, and get 10 bonus points.

  • gar

Ted please repost because I believe there is a w missing somewhere up there or there’s a new drug you’re an expert at taking. As far as being a tea-bagger I notice you have indentations on both sides of your chin. I always knew you were selfish and enjoy being a receiver.

Chris Matthews has to be the most delusional person on Television.. Thats saying a lot with the likes of Kieth Olbermann and Joy Behar in that addlebrain Realm….

Beckerhead? Did you just find a mine of stupid down there in Texass? Another clueless lib spouts moronic statements, it’s got to be in their playbook.
