Fallon, Timberlake and the Roots Perform ‘History of Rap’ 5, Now With More Skee-Lo
Bad Teacher star Justin Timberlake joined Jimmy Fallon and the Roots on The Tonight Show Friday night for the fifth installment of their “History of Rap,” which they’ve been carefully curating for about four years now.
The bit bounced from Beastie Boys to OutKast, Salt-n-Pepa to KrisKross, NWA and Jay-Z (bonus points for the inclusion of Skee-Lo and Ini Kamoze for those of us who came of age in the mid-90s), comprising 24 songs in all and ending with Fallon and Timberlake heading out into the crowd for a sing-along of Run DMC.
Timberlake did stop Fallon to ask how one got “Straight Outta Compton.” Also, neither can go anywhere near deep enough to do Notorious BIG.
