Keith Olbermann Concedes An O’Reilly Comment On His Show Was ‘Over-The-Top’

video

Is this Keith Olbermann‘s way of apologizing for taking things too far? In an opening to a segment on Countdown tonight, Olbermann noted that longtime nemesis Bill O’Reilly had done a story regarding his corporate overlords, GE, and categorized it as not newsworthy, but vengeful. The reason for pointing this out? Olbermann was about to do a segment on News Corp, Fox News’ parent company, but he wanted to make clear that it wasn’t a “tit-for-tat” story.

Why would O’Reilly seek retaliation? It seems that a large chunk of Countdown is devoted to attacking Fox News and especially O’Reilly on a regular basis, but Olbermann called the comments that he believe led to O’Reilly’s GE story as “over-the-top.” He didn’t specify which comments those were, however,or who made them):

“Last night on his program, Bill O’Reilly went after MSNBC’s parent company, GE, for something that even O’Reilly acknowledged was ‘hard to be outraged about.’ It was not news, but appears to be a response to some over-the-top remarks made here about O’Reilly.”

He later went on to clarify that his story on News Corp was not of that nature, but did not clarify what the enigmatic “over-the-top” comments were. The best guess? The only thing Olbermann has said on his program lately that is legitimately objectionable despite any political bias: bringing in potential abuses O’Reilly suffered as a child to comment on his silly feud with Jennifer Aniston. Olbermann is not one known to apologize for taking things too far, so even acknowledging that, maybe, something said on his program was a bit of a low blow is noteworthy, even if, in the future, Olbermann doesn’t bother to clarify what he was talking about. We’ll post an update if Olbermann does clarify which comment he was talking about.

The clip from tonight’s Countdown via MSNBC below:

What if you attacked a News station people actually watch, and you’re on msnbc? – Did anyone with a working brain hear it???

Keith “Tokyo Rose” Olbermann is a vile person due to being molested by his father.

This dude’s gonna snap someday, kind of like that guy on the movie “Network”

Don’t bother. It will be easier to e-mail the three people who care.

Embarrassing petty. If all he wants to talk about is Fox then why are supposed to watch him?

Herr Olbermann und Larry O’Donnell are going to have a crazy- off each night starting next month , until Comcast pulls the plug .

I don’t want to be crude, but in the 6th grade my friends and I would have said:

Keith Olbermann is not fit to carry Bill O’Reilly’s jock strap!

General Electric (GE) today announced that it had reached a settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission over charges of illegal kickbacks its subsidiaries paid to win contracts in the United Nations’ Oil-for-Food Program. As a result, GE has agreed to pay a $1 million penalty and give up the estimated $22.5 million in profits plus interest earned on the transactions.

Must be after he said “we are all Neocons now!” Matthews is at least right-of-center, certainly a wannabe conservative.

So to paraphrase: “Bill was out of line for going after our parent company, but while I was going after his parent company it was sound journalism, and Bill was simply being vindictive, even though I was going to do the exact same thing, but I was planning on doing it anyway, so I was not vindictive, even though he did it first.

Jeff Immelt was also named one of the five worst Non-Financial-Crisis-Related CEOs of 2008 by the Free Enterprise Action Fund. Since taking over, GE’s stock has dropped nearly 60%. In February 2009, Immelt was appointed as a member to the President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board to provide the president and his administration with advice and counsel in fixing America’s economic downturn.

One of the five WORST CEOs and he gets appointed to Obama’s circle?

KO, copying “The Factor” will not improve your ratings. It’s YOU- not the stories you cover. It’s YOU!

Who is Keith Olbermann and what is MSNBC?

  • The Real Royal King

Since FOX gave up any pretense of being a news organization today, this ought to end the ego heavy feud between the two bliggest bloated pischers of television. They’re no longer peers. Olbermann remains a commentator and O’Reilly is simply a propagandist for the RNC. They can put away the ruler.

Olbermann isn’t a political pundit, just a hit man specializing in character attacks of the lowest, most vile sort. It’s just like him to make classless comments of this sort. These things aren’t exceptions, but regular occurrences on his show, which should be called Meltdown, not Countdown. The fact that he is the leading TV spokesman for the American Left speaks volumes.

Olbermann has some serious daddy issues, seeing that he also used his own dying father as a political pawn to score a few cheap points on the man’s final dying breaths. No wonder even his own colleagues despise him. You could call him the Maury Povich of journalism, except Povich actually has a few viewers.

Is there anyone who does more damage to liberalism on a nightly basis than Keith Olbermann?

It’s like 6 year olds in the school yard, I don’t even watch MSNBC anymore. But if it is corruption, I kinda think that is news. Yelling and screaming and tit for tat is not news. But I think one poster got it right, he is heading in the direction of the guy in Network, and he’s kinda looking a lot like Dr. Laura way too angry all the time.
And yes, no-one really cares Keith.

Like when Olbermann, covering Scott Brown’s election, called Brown a racist, sexist homophobe. Now that’s what the King considers straight up, unbiased journalism.

  • writer

BTW, King. Pennsylvania has the most trailer parks per capita. You said it was Alabama. Caught in another lie, King.

  • writer

One more for the road. Alabama had the most in 2005. Pennsylvania has taken the lead. So to stay current, whenever the King arrogantly looks down on anyone living in a trailer, he’ll have to focus his hateful, Little Lord Fauntleroy attitude a little farther north.

You want to ignore the Olbermann’s of MSNBC, but it is hard to not want to remind
yourself and others what insignificant SHITS they really are. (check ratings).
I channel surf a lot, and can usually not stand anyone on that Network for more
    than a few minutes.
Last night was an exception. The guy filling in for Mr. Ed, the Talking Horses Ass
was so bad, I had to stay with it awhile to see if he could get any worse. He didn’t disappoint
me. That has got to be the dumbest management in history, if they can not see why
the ratings SUCK !! Where do they find these fools??

Indeed, a full 1% of Americans watch FOX “News”. That’s terribly significant, almost approaching the number of American bankers who wear thongs to work.

King, whichever state happens to have the most trailers from one year to the next, it only seems to matter to you. All I can say is, if you don’t like trailers, the next time you’re visiting relatives, stay in a hotel.

A note to Michelle. Instead of a Mormon, start telling the King you’re a Muslim. That way he’d deem it politically incorrect to keep insulting you.
