Keith Olbermann Presents BP CEO Tony Hayward’s Greatest Hits

BP CEO Tony Hayward has said so many objectionable things during the more than 40 days since the Deepwater Horizon exploded at sea that one of the things the media seemed to have missed was the number of times he insisted that the disaster was “not our accident.” MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann put together a damning collection of clips last night of Hayward removing blame from BP, claiming no oil had reached the shores, and congratulating his team on their successes.

Olbermann put together a montage of BP gaffes and tragic Gulf imagery that amounted to a Countdown Special Comment where Tony Hayward did all the talking and Olbermann didn’t have to say a word.

Besides passing on the blame, claiming no oil was on the shore, and being proud of BP’s work in the Gulf, the montage also shows BP claiming it’s impossible to measure the amount of oil gushing out (and proof it’s not), claiming clean-up crews were sick with food poisoning when they showed signs of respiratory illness from the chemical dispersants, supporting further offshore exploration, and, of course, the quote of the season, Hayward’s “I’d like my life back.” Bound together in a neat package, it’s hard not to be infuriated by the company’s behavior. BP apparently has finally realized what a liability Hayward is and are replacing him as the front man in their recovery efforts. http://tinyurl.com/26h98kq

That’s sad to hear. If only he could have lasted another year to reap in another $6 million in salary and benefits. I’m sure there will be fingernail scratch marks as they drag him out through office door.
