It seems that those who see the books as negative, and helping their political “side,” are more likely to approve of the book. Those who see it as an attack, hurtful for their “side,” are more likely to complain and accuse the author of fabricating evidence, or lacking authority.

Is there anyone (particularly on the left), who is willing to explain or defend that hypothesis? Why is this book bad, but a similar Bush (for example) good? Is it just political expediency, or is there something more tangible?

As for medical bills, I lived in a socialist style medical system where I never saw the the same doctor twice.  That system almost killed my mother and it took the normal medical system to fix what the other guy did.  The name of that is system is the military and in my mom’s case, the VA.  While not every VA hospital, is the same, many of us veterans know that if you want to check out, the VA will speed you along.  I do not want that system for you as much as you hope that I would die. 

I used to work at what is now WebMd, troubleshooting electronic claims and supporting medical software.  I spent four years watching the battle between the government, the private insurance companies and the doctors trying to survive them both.   The government is just as much the problem as the private insurance companies.  

Here is what I do not want, I do not want an already out of control Federal Government forcing me, at the point of a gun, telling me what I must buy, period.  I do not want a 2000 page law that was passed by questionable means, transforming this nation in ways that we can only guess at.  Go back and try again

Perhaps you should pay attention to the what is happening in the EU, if we become like them, then we face the same disaster.  We will not follow the German model, which does have merits, we are going to follow the French or Italian model and that will suck in the end.

Can’t speak to the entire program, but the Chicago piece was really more of a Cook County debacle.  You’d have to be a resident here to know just how totally inept county government is…and has been since the Democrats took complete control a few decades ago.  Only in Cook County would we reelect a guy who had a completely debilitating stroke…then elect his son, a total moron (it’s descriptive and not an ad hominem attack), to replace him.  The current Board President is a wee bit better…but still a Democrat which means she’ll just be “smoother” at playing with the books.

Books bashing Republicans or conservatives are almost never questioned by the so-called media.  The reason is fairly obvious….90%+ of the media types are libs/Dems.  One thing that is a bit different this time around….many in the media have either written books about Obama or plan to write a book.  Do you remember when Gwen Ifill moderated one of the McCain/Obama debates in 2008…even though she was writing a book about Obama and other powerful blacks in politics?  Bottom line….there has been and most likely always will be a double standard with the media.  They will attack any conservative or Republican politician without mercy…and will make anyone who attacks a liberal or Democrat wish they were a conservative or Republican politician.
