On CNN, Former Secret Service Agent Shows How The Presidential Limo Helped Save Ronald Reagan’s Life
A visit to Michigan’s Henry Ford Museum will allow you to see the presidential limo that played an important role in saving the life of President Ronald Reagan during an attempt on his life three decades ago.
CNN’s Drew Griffin brought former Secret Service agent Jerry Parr to the museum to take a look at the armored car, which he said “looks bigger” than he’d remembered. Parr is the man who helped save the President’s life by forcefully shoving him into the limo — blocked by the car’s “backwards”-opening rear door — as would-be assassin John Hinckley, Jr. opened fire.

“I think, for us, we have to live on an edge,” said Parr, referring to the challenges facing Secret Service agents. “We have to be willing, as they are, to lose their life. We have to give our life for that, it’s like a trade-off.”
