Ron Paul Goes Off On Going To War With Iran: We Are Going To Start A War Over A Drone?!

video

During Thursdays Republican presidential debate, Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann came to blows over national security.

“With all due respect to Ron Paul, I think I have never heard a more dangerous answer for American security than the one that we just heard from Ron Paul,” Bachmann exclaimed. “I’ll tell you the reason why, the reason why I would say that is because we know without a shadow of a doubt that Iran will take a nuclear weapon, they will use it to wipe our ally Israel off the face of the map and they stated they will use it against the United States of America. Look no further than the Iranian constitution, which states unequivocally that their mission is to extend jihad across the world and eventually to set up for worldwide caliphate. we would be fools to ignore their purpose and their plan.”

RELATED: Ron Paul Rails Against Rick Santorum: ‘We Just Plain Don’t Mind Our Own Business!’

“Obviously, I would like to see a lot less nuclear weapons,” Paul countered. I don’t want Iran to have a nuclear weapon. I would like to reduce them because there would be less chance of war. But to declare war on 1.2 billion Muslims and say all Muslims are the same, this is dangerous talk. Yeah, there are some radicals. But they don’t come here to kill us because we’re free and prosperous. Do they go to Switzerland and Sweden? That is absurd.”

“They come here and explicitly explain it to us,” Paul continued. “The CIA has explained it to us. It said they come here and they want to do us harm because we are bombing them! What is the whole world about the drone being in Iran? And we’re begging and pleading and how are we going to start a war to get the drone back? Why were we flying a drone over Iran? Why do we have to bomb so many countries? Why are we — why do we have 900 bases in 130 countries and we’re totally bankrupt. How do you rebuild a military when we have no money? How are we going to take care of the people? I think this wild goal to have another war in the name of defense is the dangerous thing. the danger is really us overreacting. we need a strong national defense. and we need to only go to war with a declaration of war and carelessly flubbing it and starting these wars so often.”

“The problem would be the greatest underreaction in world history if we have an avowed madman who uses that nuclear weapon to wipe nations off face of the earth,” Bachmann jabbed. “Then we have an IAEA report that recently came out that says literally Iran is within just months of being able to obtain that weapon. Nothing could be more dangerous than the comments we just heard.”

Paul called the Congresswoman’s remarks “totally wrong.”

“There has been no enrichment,” the plucky libertarian argued. “She took my time!”

“If we agree with that, the United States people could be at risk in our national security,” Bachmann replied sharply.

    I wish Ron would have said this;

“If you are so frustrated with Iran then you should be frustrated with our interventionist foreign policy of the last many years.  If we’d been following my foreign policy, perhaps there’d be little motivation for Iran to get a nuke.  But there’s a false assumption that just because Iran gets 1 nuke, then they’re going to fire thereby destroying themselves.”

But war is so cool when you’re not the one doing the actual fighting.  Just like a video game.

  • zack brown

Fox News loves to paint Ron Paul as the crazy one, but the rest of these candidates are outright dangerous.

  • Anonymous

Wow there’s a GOP candidate that actually understands that bombing has long term consequences that will come back to us!

  • Anonymous

Precisely. Status quo proves Ron Paul is right. That’s what people don’t get! What the other GOP turds want to do is what we have been doing for DECADES dealing with belligerent rogue nations.

  • http://twitter.com/Hendrew Drew

so the new GOP talking point is WMD’s again.  Wow how fare that party has fallen

“Chickens coming home to roost”? Hmmm

I will probably never agree with Dr. Paul about anything, but he made a great deal of sense for a minute there…

Did anybody else notice Bret Baier and Chris Wallace basically ignore Ron Paul for the rest of the debate? The contempt that FOX and these so called journalists hold for Ron Paul is disgusting. I loved to see Ron Paul get fired up tonight!

Ive voted republican ever since I could but I for one am so tired of this war BS.
Vote Ron Paul send a message that independents and conservatives are tired of the repeated wars and that we will no longer be pawns to their unwarranted killings of human beings.
I will say that if someone attacks us then we have every right to declare war and take them out but really would we be ok with anyone telling us what to do? I think not.
    War is a last resort.

Ron Paul sounds reasonable  on wars but that’s where it ends. He is against women having control over their own bodies and reproductive rights. Minorities are not going to do well under him, he’s on record saying the Civil Rights Act was a mistake.  Paul wants to abolish the minimum wage so we can work for whatever companies feel like paying,OSHA would be history. He would gut our environmental laws, and abolish the EPA. Ron Paul  hates our educational system, public schools would  be privatized into a for profit system.  Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid would be gone.He also wants  to tear down the wall between church and state. But he is right on  the wars, including our drug war.

The Iranians are minutes away, no seconds away from having a Bomb. Thank God for Ron Paul. The only thing I agree with him on is his anti-war stance and, of course, his almost pro-pot position. We are a nation of warmongers, maybe not as rabid as these Republican candidates fawning over how nuttily pro Israel they can be. These character are openly encouraging the extreme rightwing Israeli government to attack Iran. Do you rightwingers know this could easily be worse than Bush’s invasion of Iraq, which itself was one of the most shameful, destructive and self-destructive acts we’ve ever committed. It demoralized us and was a major cause of the financial collapse. And we’re thinking of more war! If the Israeli’s were actually to surgically bomb Iran, all hell would break out. Iran doesn’t have, nor will it ever get a bomb simply because the West is already doing a lot surreptitiously to prevent this from happening. Also, for all you Jewish rightwingers out there and so-called Christian ‘friends’ of Israel – Obama will never ever turn his back on Israel. I’m Jewish, by the way. I just want to know how much longer you rightwing people can keep up your act. It’s not working any longer – people are not buying into it, etc.

  • http://www.praxacademy.com Rothbardian

Here we see the same propaganda that got us into Iraq.  Be scared, you serfs!  Fox News made sure to inform us proles that we should fear the evil terrorists abroad.  Check under your bed, check your closet – Look in the mirror!  You might see a terrorist.  Please, can I have a government official in every room of my house so that I am protected from Iran?

The fact is that Ron Paul represents a new way of thinking in America; we do not own the world, and we actually realize that a lot of countries do not like us because of our arrogant foreign policy.  While most of the republican party represents war-mongering police statists, there are a few people like Ron Paul that actually believe in peace and freedom.

  • http://twitter.com/NotRepublican Emad Allan

They all say they want to attack Iran because ISRAEL WANTS another war in the Middle East to distract from the peace process.  I wish these Israeli puppets answered Paul’s question of how they would pay for another war???? Our soldiers are tired and are not battle ready after fighting two wars for 10 years.  I wonder if the Republicans and the Israelis would volunteer to fund a war with Iran and send their families to fight it?

  • http://bit15.blogspot.com David Acosta Juan

The war on drugs is the biggest attack to minorities, and Ron Paul will end that. Your “environmental laws” prevent you from suing a company that is polluting “your” air. “Your” educational system is a complete disaster, Ron Paul favors home schooling and yes, private schools that, without government interference, will have to compete in price and quality. He’s NOT ending Social Security, as a matter of fact he’s the only one that will guarantee the continuation of the healthcare system without raising taxes and creating more debt; he’s also the only one giving younger people the chance to opt out. And finally, he’s explicitly saying that the federal government should not get involved in religious affairs, how is that “tearing down the wall between church and state”?

  • john lee

If you like his response on foreign policy, you should dig deeper on his positions. He’s using the same logic and understanding of the constitution to take these positions. On abortion, both sides, pro-life or pro-choice could be looked at as constitutional.
It all depends on if you see an unborn baby as a person. Obviously, Ron
Paul think that the baby has the right to his or her life. He only disagrees with a small part of the civil rights act which completely violates freedom of association. Minimum wage is actually destroying jobs. People with low skill, or young people who are looking for experience could get a job much more easily. Environmental issues should be dealt as a propriety right issue. You shouldn’t have the right to pollute your neighbors. So it’s a lack of respect for propriety right which is the problem. Education and all the social programs should be turned back to the states. However, in his program, he doesn’t touch Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid or food stamp and will pay for them by cutting all the war funding.

  • kurtdorrian

the sad thing is most of americans will buy into it and support it

  • Anonymous

Its so easy for these politicians to say to go to war and be in the wars longer because they dont have to do it. Ron Paul’s answer was not dangerous, it made perfect sense, us being in other countries affairs and business is what makes them hate us and want to attact us not because they are bored and dont like our laws and freedoms. If your having issues at your home would you want your next door neighbors to come over every single time and get in the middle of it, would we as a nation like Russia to come here and build bases and make sure we start getting rid of our nukes. Again this shows why more veterans and soldiers actively serving support Ron Paul over any other candidate.

  • Jonathan Mailer

lol at Hannity’s antagonistic interview of Paul in the spin room.
His first question was, “WHEN YOU LOSE WILL YOU RUN AS A THIRD PARTY CANDIDATE” and it was all downhill from there, including asking about the racist newsletters from the early 90′s (wtf does that have to do with debate spin?).

Of course Mitt and Newt got softball interviews.

It should be clear to everyone in the world that the Republican GOP candidates swear allegiance to Israeli Zionists. Not all Israelis are Zionist though; there are good Jewish people who don’t support this war BS. Bloody wars for America is on the agenda if Bachmann, Romney, Santorum, or Gingrich get nominated. The only level headed, diplomatic, smart thinking conservative candidates are Ron Paul 1st., and Huntsman 2nd. The other candidates would usher in World War III and the NWO in America. Look and listen intently to these crazy, desperate Zionists.

  • Anonymous

Fox News always tries to derail Dr. Paul; but he always makes them eat their cheap antagonistic comments. The country is bankrupt and doesn’t have money to pay its debt; but yet it has trillions to go out and kill innocent families in foreign countries. Is that the democracy that these people want to spread around the world. How would you like it if Russia and China came here and started bombing our cities and indiscriminately murdering our population. People it’s time to change the status quo in our country and learn how to LOVE again. There is too much hate being spread by these idiots in Washington D.C.  Ron Paul wants you to have freedom and liberty; what do the others want? Get ready for a draft with the others. Our soldiers know they went to fight Bush and Cheney’s oil-pipeline wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Listen to what Romney said – Something to the tune that this is our New Century… Check out The Project For The New American Century on Youtube; to learn more…
Ron Paul will shake down these Deceptor Cons and they’re afraid of him… Vote Ron Paul at all costs for our freedom and liberty, and justice.

A lot of saber rattling going on. With these Republicans and their very strong support of the corporations, sometimes I can’t help but wonder if it’s more about having prolonged wars to enrich those running these big corporations throwing money their way through lobbyist, rather than protecting our country. Why are John McCain and some others so upset we got out of Iraq knowing how the American people, whom they claim to be listening to, were ready for it to end. Let’s be realistic, there are some issues in that part of the world democracy can’t fix. If there is peace, it will always be fractured no matter what we do. These presidential candidates speak so much about doing things to make it better for future generations but with their “hit them before they hit us” stance in regard to war, especially with Iran, it’s quite possible those generations may never be. War with Iran or other few countries we deem to be a real threat is going to be a whole lot different on the casualty scale.

Before someone so wrapped in ideology come at me with stop the liberal demagoguery, I don’t affiliate with either established party.  As a military retiree this year, been over there and done that a few times. As far as wealth creation, I was informed by contractors during all of my deployments how good some of them are getting paid (many clearing $75K to $100K), so guys at the very top were hitting the jackpot. I don’t think those guys were lying, especially making statements like ”if I can can do this for 2 or 3 years, I’ll be set”. That sounds like somebody is getting paid a pretty decent salary. It kind of pisses servicemembers off when they think about their own pay, especially if the contractors are doing what we consider chillin’. Funny thing is many contractors are former military that got the idea while they were on deployment. You do what you have to do, right; life goes on and it requires money.

I don’t like everything Ron Paul says but I guess I’m with him on this one. He hasn’t actually said it this way, but a lot more diplomacy doesn’t make the US look weak. Can we please take an EXTENSIVE look at the intelligence before sending servicemembers into harm’s way.

  • Charles Ulysses Feney

    Correction:
ISREAL WANTS the U.S. to pay for and fight another war in the middle east, because they got their asses handed to them in South Lebanon in 2006 by Hezbollah.

Can take Iran out, or pretend they want to to ingratiate themselves to certain voters, who hopefully are too smart for and repulsed by this tacky type pandering, but the elephant in the room is democracy flourishing in the region and the in-the-street man’s will being expressed and exercised. I can safely say that they want no part of war but sure as hell are taking note and have been for decades

Things started to change with the election of Obama, but he too was coopted in this racist belligerent warring killing apparatchik under which unlimited amount of blood and treasure is committed to defend the democracy and freedom of a chosen few, ‘freedom’ as in immunity from prosecution for and cart blanche to murder pillage and render refugee a large segment of indigenous inhabitants and rightful land owners

I may be crazy but I’m of the belief that one of the factors that contributed to igniting the arab spring was getting the arab street high on the prospect of a fair handling of the region’s affairs by the world’s only super-power only for these hopes to come crashing down in disappointment with a man who is now described in the region as a younger handsomer George W. Bush

“The Iranians are minutes away, no [sic] seconds away from having a Bomb.”
There’s no evidence of that. There IS evidence of Iran having done lots & lots of work on nuclear technology. There IS evidence of that which Iran has WILLINGLY shown to the IAEA, including American citizens who are on the technical staff of the IAEA. There IS evidence of Iran deliberately, repeatedly, specifically denying the IAEA answers to particular questions & access to specific facilities which, by virtue of Iran being a member of the U.N., Iran has a treaty obligation to answer & give access to.

There is an ASSESSMENT by the IAEA that basically says, We don’t know why it is that Iran is acting this way, but since we cannot verify we also cannot attest as to what state the Iranian nuclear programs are in, or even necessarily what they are; we just don’t know. For Bachmann to go beyond that & assert that IAEA concluded MORE than that is either due to fundamental ignorance or due to her being a liar (I think both, but it really doesn’t matter which, her assertion renders her incompetent for the presidency either way, assuming she wasn’t already incompetent for the presidency.).

There was a bit of a problem in this exchange, and it relates to the earliest entry on this thread. Insofar as to what it appears Ron Paul was TRYING to say in rebuttal to Bachmann’s ignorance and/or lies, he was accurate – but he had trouble getting it out, that is, he wasn’t anywhere near as articulate & effective in what he actually said as our first reader was in stating what he WISHED Ron Paul had said. I don’t think that the fact that Ron Paul was so inarticulate in his rebuttal was due to any ignorance on Ron Paul’s part; I also don’t think one could conclude he was tired, because he really hadn’t been called on very much to that point; I think the quality of his performance was due to his age and temperament. Those suggest disqualification for the presidency.

If he thinks God wants him to, sure. Ever heard of a suicide bomber? From the Iranian Constitution:

In the formation and equipping of the country’s defence forces, due attention must be paid to faith and ideology as the basic criteria.  Accordingly, the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps are to be organized in conformity with this goal, and they will be responsible not only for guarding and preserving the frontiers of the country, but also for fulfilling the ideological mission of jihad in God’s way; that is, extending the sovereignty of God’s law throughout the world (this is in accordance with the Koranic verse “Prepare against them whatever force you are able to muster, and strings of horses, striking fear into the enemy of God and your enemy, and others besides them” [8:60]).

Do you know who the Twelvers are? Do you know who the Twelfth Imam is, and what the prophecy of his return is? Do you know what the conditions are that will precipitate his return? Do you know who really, really wants him to return, and therefore is trying to create the necessary conditions?

programs are in, or even necessarily what they are; we just don’t know.

No, that isn’t what it says. It says they Iran is known to be working on all necessary components to build and deliver a nuclear weapon via ballistic missile. True, they cannot confirm that they’re actually building one, only that they’re doing everything necessary to build one and that there does not seem to be an alternate explanation for this.

As for blowing up their nuclear aspirations, it’s already happening.

I wouldn’t go that far. He is certainly right about Iran, but the notion that war is never ok is not realistic. Paul’s world still has all the dictators and terrorists in place, no Islamic spring, with Pakistan, an Islamic nuclear power, probably taken over by Afgan terrrorists. Bush had it right to take the fight to the enemies turf, and we are better off having done so. Iran having a nuclear bomb is far less scarry than during the heat of the cold war, that’s for sure. And of course the Persians of Iran, a culture several thousand years old, is not going to committ suicide by dropping a nuclear weapon against a country that has thousands of nuclear weapons ready to retaliate.

Hey wait, this WMD- and Israel-related propaganda from Bachmann sounds strangely familiar.  Haven’t Republicans used that to start pointless wars for years before?  It’s rather depressing they think their voters are stupid enough to fall for that yet again.

  • http://www.praxacademy.com Rothbardian

Don’t you mean “Death to Iran! For Peace!”?  That’s what the neocons shout constantly.

USA.  Open YOUR eyes and see your true countryman.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

I know you have waited a bit longer than usual for my much-prized and highly-desired debate grades, but, this is Advent, a season of waiting filled with anticipation. So, my pondering is in the spirit of the season.

    Dr. Ron Paul: B+
—Confident. Strong on foreign policy. Kudos for talking to our “enemies”. A bit of practicality emerges in economics.
    Mad Michelle Bachmann: B-
—Largely for her finally having tired of the Newt’s condescending attitude towards her and all women.
    The Newt: C+
—Largely positive when confined to substance. Defensive. Prickly.
    John Huntsman: C
—Wonderful grasp on the hugely important issue of China. Guy couldn’t get traction with snow chains.
    Willard: C-
—Lackluster. No energy. No charisma. Ridiculous response to his perpetual flip-flopping. Voters must be getting tired of him.
    Rick Sanitarium: D
—Not entirely his fault. So little time allocated to him. The boyishness is beginning to take on a State School resident quality.
    Toll Booth Perry: D-
—A mother in Texas was recently questioned by child welfare. She puts her 5 year old daughter in junior beauty contests. Before competition, the girl is given two (2) Red Bulls and about a dozen Pixie Stix. Obviously, Tollbooth and this girl have the same mother. After that ridiculous, hyper, all over the place Tebow story, he wound down quickly into a state of utter vacuousness.

    As to coverage:

Over-all, an improvement from earlier FOX “News” debate. Some of the technical clitches are gone, but FOX “News” always seems to impart a Jerry Springer quality to the production. Last night was no exception, but it added in an American Idol set.

    Baier: Improved. Unremarkable. C.
Kelly: Geez, lady, what’s with that make-up you shovel on? You look like a clown. And, any clown could ask more serious, substantive questions. Judging from your credentials, you have to be dumbing down. Trying to attract the middle aged GED crowd? D.
Wallace: Incomplete. Not sure why you showed up.

On a side note: Women in Iowa are waking up to the state’s greatest shortage of mascara and eye line since World War II. Assistants for Megyn Kelly and Mad Michelle Bachmann have emptied shelves in grocery stores, drug stores, big box stores, department stores, Avon Mary Kay ladies’ homes, and Merle Norman shops from the easternmost cornfield to the westernmost cornfield, from the northernmost cornfield to the southernmost cornfield and even in border cities.

No, they are not ignorant, dishonest or stupid.  They are Zionists first, and use USA in their goals for Israel.  As a lifelong American Christian, I continue to have love for The Holy Land, but now see the government of Israel as users, troublemakers, twisters of truth, and am now their enemy.  Net, stay off of our church podium platforms.  Do your tap dancing elsewhere. The jig is up.  That goes for Hollywood, the zionist media, all neocons. Zionists are Communists.  Flat out truth.  Paul will not allow or enable neocons to put our troops into wars for Israel.  Commander in Chief Paul will have a fiercely strong all top notch, well supplied and trained AND informed military that when he deems they must fight, he will send them in to win, not as political pawns.

Please do some more research, look behind, under, and through the news attacks on Paul.  He IS a fighter AND a statesman, but not a fool or a tool.  No one says the “prob” is Paul’s character because there IS NO prob with his character.  You are using old dead strategy to scratch.  Surely you can do better than that.  I think you typo’d your name, LocoDos.

e83talus, “they” who are marching US off to war AGAIN are the neocons, the zionists.  Just listen to Santorum and Bachmann especially, carry that Israeli flag through their debate comments.  I’ll tell you I am getting very disgusted with anything Israeli.  The Holy Land is MINE too as a Christian.  That does NOT give zionists a right to get into my pockets because they hate so many people.  They have stolen our secrets, we have their pal Pollard in the pen and they keep trying to get him out and they won’t tell us what he stole and gave to them.  Friends like that, who needs enemies?  I’ve never felt this annoyance before and it is layering on because of the AMERICAN presidential candidates who are getting support from a foreign country, Israel, and trying to lemming Americans into the Israeli ranks and have stacked the deck in the debate audience.  It is OVER.  Israel must learn to negotiate, to get along with others, and play nice.  They are NOT doing so.  NO I do NOT favor Arabs, Muslims, or any other condition I consider a SECT.  To me as a Christian, today’s Jewish Religion IS a Sect just like the others.  Their right to be so but LEAVE MY CHRISTMAS TREES, MY SCHOOL PRAYERS, MY RIGHT TO PRAY ANYWHERE, ALONE.  ALL OF YOU.  If you hate and want to clobber Christianity and Christians, LEAVE.  GO LIVE IN YOUR FABULOUS COUNTRIES.

Really? So there must be You Tube video of neocons shouting that.

Israhell targeted the U.S. on 9/11/2001 and thanks to the gullible simpletons that make up the populace, like you, we now are engaged in never ending wars that have absolutely nothing to do with our own National Security.

All these wars are fought for Israhells interests, not the United States.

Why did you mention that in the first place? It has nothing to do with my comment that peace is no longer considered an option these days.

Its only reasonable for some of those people to chant “Death to America” because most likely we just bombed their family and destroyed their home. Or we prevented them from buying food through sanctions. What would you do in that situation?

As for neocons, just watch any debate this past year and almost everyone on stage believes bombing Iran will keep us safe, i.e. create peace.

You are right Charles.  Outraged by that Israeli flag being waved by Americans in an American Presidential debate.  Let them wave that flag from Israel.  Get the H out, neocons.  Isn’t Iraq big enough for you?  That was the purpose in cleaning out Iraq, because there isn’t “enough room” for jews to wander into Israel territory from Russia, Poland, South America, Asia, etc.  When our Forces leave Iraq, there will be no oversight of the immigration and the Application form they will be signing, a new form that no longer asks “what is your religion.”  Remember that “road map” Bush concocted with Sharon?  The flip side was a “treasure map” with a big X on Iraq.  Yeah, there was a reason to attack Iraq.  The truth will come out AGAIN.  Hopefully Paul will be able to quickly do everything he says, and will include eliminating foreign Pacs like Israel.  We ship billions to Israel and they tote it back in shopping bags to fund their favorite politicians.  We are idiots for letting this continue.  No Foreign Pacs are needed or wanted in our country.  It takes away power from Americans and is forcing our hand.

See how successful the zionists have been in our universities and educational system to confuse Americans about our History, and cause Americans to now think Paul represents a  NEW way of thinking in America?  No No No, Rothbardian, it’s NOT new.  It is our FOUNDING, our Founding Documents, our Constitutional Convention, our Continental Army way of thinking.  Freedom.  Honor.  Respect.  Truth.  The creeps who have infiltrated our systems have “intelligently” dumbed down our education system.  Well, it didn’t work.  The SPIRIT of Freedom is deep in us and we aren’t going to let them rip it out.  Ron Paul is carrying only one flag.  The Stars and Stripes.  He won’t let it touch the ground.

It appears that Ron Paul will be hurt by the neo-cons and the war crazies on the stage. His mistake was to make it so evident and truthful. No one dares from either side of the isle to admit that the Jews have enough nukes to destroy the world 10 times over, that they lie and the US is their puppet. Anytime someone dares to tell the truth about what Israel is doing by occupying Palestinians is labelled as being anti-semitic. I’m not against it’s religion, I’m against their propaganda and lies, and like blacks, the Jews always wanting to be pittied for having been wronged in the past. Paul is exactly right, what the hell are we doing getting into all these wars, is it sucking up to the Jewish Lobby or is it oil, or both. We’ve gotten not a penny’s worth of oil from Iraq. All the contracts have gone to China and Europe. That’s one thing Trump is right about. All we’ve accomplished by sticking our noses into Iraq and staying in Aphganistan is make Iran a big player in the region. Something it wasn’t able to do when Saddam Hussein was still in power. And he has a great point what the hell was a drone doing over Iran’s airspace. While, Iran may be a terrorist state, it is a soveirgn country and has every right to shoot it down, if that’s what happened. Wouldn’t we do the same. Why does the meaning of soverignty change only if it fits us.

You mean the Tumbleweed, the O’Bomber is just working up to it but is handicapped because of the upcoming election.  By the way, where IS all that Iraqi oil we were promised would “pay” for all our war costs?  Isn’t there a new pipeline down to Israel? Oh yeah.

Its only reasonable for some of those people to chant “Death to America”
because most likely we just bombed their family and destroyed their
home. Or we prevented them from buying food through sanctions. What
would you do in that situation?

When did we bomb Iran? Never, last I checked. And yet you can hardly get a crowd together there without “Death to America” chants, unless they’re chanting “Death to the Dictator” in which case they get shot, beaten and/or jailed by the peaceful Iranian regime.

So, it must be that’s we’ve prevented them from buying food. Which hasn’t happened either.

As for neocons, just watch any debate this past year and almost everyone

During the post debates comments, Hannity said that Bachmann should not have attacked Newt because of Ronald Reagan’s 11 Comandment and that it weakens the potential nominee. I beg to differ, as an Independent, I want the differences between these candidates pointed out in a vigorous debate, so it’s clearer to me who I would support. I will not support Mitt Romney, He’s George Bush 3.0. He said he wants to increase the number of warship being built annually frorm 9 to 15 and he wants to expand the military by another 100,000 troops and in his foreign national policy speech about 2 months ago, he said he wanted the navy to be positioned in all the major waters in the world. How the hell does he propose to pay for all that. Except for Paul and Huntsman, the rest of these jokers would fit well with John McCain. Let’s just invade everyone who disagrees with us. I understand that they want to suck up to Netanyahu and get millions of dollars from the Jewish Lobby. I won’t vote for any of these idiots with the exception of Huntsman or Paul. When someone dares to say the truth, everyone is shocked. Bachmann is biggest fool of all. She may have scored points by attacking Paul, but she’s desparate, because this is her last and chance. If she doesn’t win Iowa, she might as well pack up and go home. What I’d like to see is a brokered convention. Have a 3rd and a possibly 4th party, because there is not much to pick from should Either Mitt or Newt become nominee.

Sadly, Iran would administer a punishment upon the U.S. that would forever change the muddled mess that is the Middle East.

  • http://www.praxacademy.com Rothbardian

My comments were never based on the context that we were talking explicitly about Iran. “Death to America” is shouted elsewhere. So, in no way did I ever claim we bombed Iran. We did, however, put sanctions on Iran that were harmful to their economy. You say it didn’t prevent them from buying food, but the very wikipedia article you source states:

“The United States has imposed…an almost total economic embargo on Iran”

The UN “tightened the arms embargo, travel bans on individuals…froze funds and assets”

“A license from the Treasury Department is required to do business with Iran”

Its astoundingly clear that their economy suffers under our authoritarian controls. Also, the article that is supposed to back you up, actually enforces what I previously said:

“The sanctions have also had a strong impact on the Iranian economy.”
“Iran may lose up to $60 billion in energy investments annually”

** “The effects of U.S. sanctions include expensive basic goods for Iranian citizens” **

    Gotcha alright.

The article clearly states that basic goods, i.e. FOOD, has become more expensive as a result of our sanctions. We have indirectly prevented lower class Iranian citizens from buying food. All hail the U.S. I can’t believe they dont worship us!

And it states that our sanctions have “weakened Iranian civil society and strengthen[ed] the state”

Wow, so our sanctions have actually made the government of Iran MORE powerful. Aren’t we smart?

As for your last comment, do you understand what a hyperbole is? The neocons don’t say “Death to Iran” because that would be too obvious. They are much more subtle, in the same way that Obama doesn’t say “I am a socialist”, but he really is.

P.S. You stated, “unless they’re chanting “Death to the Dictator” in which case they get shot, beaten and/or jailed by the peaceful Iranian regime”
If you chanted “death to the president” here in the U.S. you would suffer the same consequences. Suddenly it seems we’re not all that better than our worst enemy.

  • http://www.praxacademy.com Rothbardian

Whoa…easy man, I fully understand its not “new” in the sense its never been thought of before. It is, however, new to the people who only listen to the mainstream media and talk radio. I was speaking relative to their perspective, because we already understand this stuff.

    Get a grip.

Iran is gonna shoot a nuke on the US?

    Okay, then what?

I truly do not believe anyone is gonna shoot off a nuke is they have any sense at all.  And, frankly, I do not want to spend my life worrying about it.  If it happens, what the hell can I do about it anyway?  We all have to transition for some reason – whether it’s illness or bombs doesn’t change the fact that when you die, you are dead.

I still say that basically – we all, on this earth, want the same thing – peace, good food and healthy kids.  It’s “us against them” thinking that is killing millions.

  • Joan Kelly

You have a good brain.  You’re intelligent and yet you spend how many hours thinking about things that could go wrong.  How can you change what another thinks?

Wouldn’t it be more appropriate and useful of your intelligence to try to find ways to make peace with YOUR NEIGHBOR?

Jesus, we all live on this earth.  We are all human.  I don’t care about the Twelfth Imam.  I care about making peace in this world and I think I can do that if I quit hating.

Dogs bite when they’re threatened.  Humans do the same so why the Hell isn’t it more sensible to attempt to love your neighbor?

Dr Paul should explain his Foreign Policy As:
Is China less safe by not being all over the world fighting needless wars? China is more safe. China saves their money by buying our debt, while creating wealth within their borders. They build their military without fighting. Our #1 national security threat is debt. Nobody doubts China’s military strength and everyone knows they are enslaving us with debt. We need to build our defense without war. That is how we won WWII. By coming in years after everyone was already stretched too thin with a strong fresh military. We are stretched now and less safe.

I agree with paul on some levels we shouldnt just go to war with a country on an assumption.  The reason they want to hurt us isnt for our FREEDOMS as Romney would say, its because of the Iran coup in 1953.  Iran elected a leader that was trying to free their OIL from Brittain intrussion.  Brittain didnt want to lose their foreign oil asset in Iran;  so the US along with Brittain over-through their leader to put in a leader that was pro america and would allow Irans oil to be nationlized.  This lasted for 26 years until they had an uprising and we now have a leadership that hates america and will do anything they can to suppress us for suppressing them for 60+ years.  We provoke people then act like they are over reacting. Im not condoning the right for them to have a nuke but if i was Iran I would be building one too, not to use but atleast so America would leave me alone.  Trust me  we dont have bases around the world and the ambition to create a larger military for the reason of World Freedom that is a joke.  Google Iran coup 1953 and tell me they hate our freedoms and not our games we play.

    Hi Pablo,

Got your response to my post and am answering here as there didn’t seem to be a way to get it in after your post.

“You may not care about the Twelfth Imam, and that’s fine. Neither do I.
But the people running Iran do. My concern is a product of taking the
time to understand them.”  When you read the bit from the Iranian Constitution you posted, do you see a tremendous similarity to the views of Michelle Bachmann, Tim Pawlenty, Pat Robertson and others from the Tea Party?  My point is – it’s not just the Imam’s of the world.  That junk is right here in our land and it’s gtowing exponentially because people have been conditioned to FEAR  everything that isn’t like them – in contrast to the words of Jesus Christ.

No, stinking your head in the sand isn’t the answer but perhaps a quiet, determined, committed stand that includes tolerance and compassion will do more good than great anxiety about “the other guy”.  To understand, you have to talk, discuss and be willing to be at peace yourself.  How does it go”  “To create peace you must first be at peace.”  It’s simply the meme of the Third Monkey that works.

Have a good day, Pablo and know that I appreciate you.

It is sad and I think high school students should be shown his biased posts. He often asks for proof about a claim and he never acknowledges that he could possibly be wrong.
