Watch: Adele Performs ‘Rolling In The Deep’ At The Grammys

Video

In addition to bringing home four six Grammy awards tonight (not too shabby), singer Adele gave a powerful, much-anticipated performance of her song “Rolling in the Deep” during the awards show.

No gimmicks, no theatrics, no ill-advised duet with Maroon 5 or Coldplay or Yanni — just soulful singing and a pretty damn solid backing band.

I held my breath hoping she wouldn’t damage her voice.

    She did a great job.

Rolling in Grammy’s! Six for six.

She was an island of pure talent in a sea of musical blah.  It’s nice when singers can actually sing.

    Oh, and she looked fantastic.

A True Artist, she put everyone else to shame tonight.

What a great comment and I agree!  When I heard of Adele a few years ago, I thought “oh another pop artist who will disappear after one record”.  When people were raving about this 2nd record, I wouldn’t listen until a friend sent me a copy of her singing “Set Fire to the Rain” at Royal Albert Hall.

It was just her, no crazy costumes or gimmicks … and I thought she was amazing.  She’s proof once again that the best music and writing comes out of our life experiences.  It said on 60 Minutes tonight that she took a job in a music store … even after winning Grammys a few years ago.  She’s stood up to fashionistas for criticizing her weight … I find that impressive in a young women and especially in light of what has happened to Whitney Houston, hope Adele can stay grounded and have a great life.

Yep, me too!  For some reason, this girl really moves me.  I’m not a big fan of pop music but her style is unique and she made a quality record.  I think it’s the fact that she’s her own person and seems so genuine and willing to not conform to music industry pressures.  Those will increase now and I hope she doesn’t lose her independence.

Whitney Houston was their “golden girl” for many years and yet they held a party on the other side of the hotel when her body hadn’t even been removed from the premises.  Chris Brown beat the blank out of Rhinna a couple of years ago … tonight he was celebrated.  So I think the heads of this industry are loathsome in many ways … it’s why I’m happy for an artist like Adele and hope she won’t get caught up in the hype and just continue to write and sing great music.

Adele is an island of white trash blah is a sea of musical blah. Her “talent” is not different than the American Idol castaways. Thank god I have Amy Winehouse to show what real music like this should sound like.

Im trying to be FAIR , i’m trying to be objective…….i just don’t see “it”

Congrats to Adele, but I think all her songs sound the same. All of them are catchy but she doesn’t have much range. She’s like a pianist who only could play 3 chords. It’s okay though, you don’t really need that vocal range to be a successful singer these days.

She has a raspy voice & very little range. A lot like Amy Winehouse except sober.

You bring up some good points. I would’ve personally postponed the Grammys out of respect to the situation or perhaps tried to move the venue. But like saying goes, “the show must go on”.

I love Adele! I believe she won 6 Grammy Awards, though.

I never thought you liked anything else apart from bashing Obama and black people in general. I am shocked, I am.

She just had surgery on her vocal cords actually and it’s a wonder she could even perform tonight.  That being, she did an amazing job.  Pure talent that one!

  • Anonymous

    True, I’ll give her that.

    You never thought.

She really knocked it out of the park!

  • Anonymous

Yeah, you are too taken by Chris Brown.

  • Anonymous

She just went up there and “sang” her song.

     That’s what real singers do

    Amazing blog!

This Ladies and Gentlemen is what you call a real singer! no lip-syncing or auto-tune needed!

I don’t like her music. The arrangements are boring and as a singer she is no different from the American Idol wannabes. I don’t like elevator music. The Grammies are celebrating dullness.

Goose bumps, chills, and a lump in my throat

There’s no doubt that she’s a great singer, but part of the reason she really stands out is the fact that so much of today’s music is, sorry for the term, but it’s a lot of just plain “crap.”

It’s nice to see somebody like Adele who can just stand there and sing without all that hype (see the rap singer who really “lowered” herself by being “levitated” for an example of all the flash and trash with too much hype that passes for music today.)

What might be lost among the standing ovation and Adele’s extraordinary vocal talents is the talent that when into creating (co-written by Adele) and producing this true musical masterpiece.

The lyrics and music are breathtaking.

This young lady has a once in  a lifetime super -hit with Rolling In The Deep.  Appealing to all ages, appreciations, etc.  First time I’ve even looked at the Grammy Awards in over twenty years.  She deserves all the accolades she gets.

I agree with all the possitive comments stated…the negative ones are made obiously by the pencil/necked lizard/loungers who do not know anything and are just voicing their bones/corroding Envy. On top of all stated above, Adele is funny, spontaneous, quick/witted and honest. When anybody with a good head on the shoulders sees a Beautiful and soulfull singer who posseses all these qualities, you just can’t help it, you just fall in love with them. She is original and stands alone in her very unique particular style. I just hope that she stays this way. I believe she’s intelligent enough to do it. Long live Adele!!!!
