On a night dominated by Maine Senator Olympia Snowe’s planned retirement and the contraception controversy, The Rachel Maddow Show notched an impressive 292,000 viewers in the demo on Wednesday night. Rachel Maddow‘s program was the highest rated show on MSNBC for the night and also beat out CNN’s Piers Morgan handily in demo and total viewers.

In other Wednesday highlights, Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor very nearly tied with NBC’s Rock Center in total viewers with 2.7 million last night. Rock Center had 2,748,000, while O’Reilly’s show racked up 2,682,000 total viewers.

Why does mediaite continue to low ball o’reilly’s numbers when they compare it to Brian Williams?
When you do a comparison with a network show you have to add together the 8pm and 11pm numbers of fox news because of the way the shows are aired… Think about it, the 8pm est airing of the factor comes on at 5pm in the west…..the 11pm factor is on at 8pm est, so you have to add those numbers……..
Williams comes on at the same time in the eastern and western time zones….

    >> cjdohio2: “Flying high in 2nd should be the headline.”

LMAO!  I was thinking the same thing.  Only at Mediate (which loves to kiss MSNBC butt) could you find a big banner headline trumpeting that a show is “flying high”…

…when, in fact, it actually came in SECOND and got TROUNCED by another show that did come in #1. But hey! Let’s celebrate those runner-ups, huh?

NEXT UP: during the next Olympics, we can look forward to all the scintillating and insightful profile pieces celebrating the SILVER medal winners…

A great many people eat dinner at McDonalds, that doesn’t make it the best place to eat.

Flying HIGH, can you say FOX is number 1?

If Fox’s Hannity & Greta keep pushing, every night, for Newt &
or Santorum, will their ratings will continue to drop! They’re a mockery of
“Fair & Balanced”! Plus, as a republican, I’m really getting tired of
Hannity slamming the President. I’m a Romney supporter, but, all this hate talk
    has to STOP!
