‘You Are Making Excuses For Comey!’: James Carville Goes Ballistic, Attacks MSNBC Anchor
During an appearance on MSNBC yesterday afternoon, longtime Democratic strategist and Hillary Clinton supporter James Carville jumped down anchor Thomas Roberts’ throat over what he felt was Roberts defending FBI director James Comey, Republicans and the KGB, among other things.
The interview heated up quickly after Roberts played a clip of Clinton speaking at a rally where she stated that the whole issue over her personal email server was a mistake that she regretted, following that up by asking Carville if Comey would be accused of a cover up if there were new issues with emails. Carville immediately snapped back, stating that Comey was acting in concert with House Republicans, and then brought up the KGB “selectively leaking things from the Clinton campaign.” (The KGB doesn’t actually exist anymore as it was split following the dissolution of the USSR.)
Roberts duly noted that many intelligence agencies have said that Russia is involved with the WikiLeaks hacks, but again put the focus of the conversation on Democrats’ changing attitude towards Comey since the release of the letter. Carville responded by exclaiming “when the facts change our mind, what do you do?”
After Carville spoke some more about the FBI acting on behalf of Republicans, Roberts persisted, asking if there were a double standard involved with Democrats regarding Comey, seeing as many defended him previously.
“It is unbelievable that people like you are defending this,” Carville shouted, following a lengthy tirade where he again brought up the KGB and said there was an assault on American democracy. He later added, “You are making excuses for Comey by bringing up something that somebody said in July.”
At one point, Roberts had to tell Carville to calm down and let him talk, as they were both speaking over each other. At the end, when Roberts asked Carville if he feels the letter can hurt Hillary’s election chances, the veteran Dem said he couldn’t even think about the election now because of how the “KGB is trying to affect our democracy.”
