Jerry Seinfeld said pro-Palestinian protesters targeting branding him a “genocide supporter” and “Nazi scum” are a “little off target.”

Seinfeld joined Bari Weiss for her Honestly podcast in an episode published Tuesday. The wide-ranging conversation included the comedian touching on his latest film Unfrosted, as well as recently being targeted by protesters amid the Israel-Hamas war.

Seinfeld, who is Jewish, has been the target of pro-Palestinian protesters multiple times. Some walked out of a commencement address given by the comedian at Duke University earlier this month.

In February, he was also berated by activists while leaving an event in New York City, being called “Nazi scum” and a “genocide supporter.” Seinfeld smiled and waved at the yelling demonstrators at the time.

Activists and college campus demonstrators have called for a ceasefire on Israel’s Gaza strikes, which have led to thousands of civilian deaths. Israel has said the strikes will not cease until Hamas is eliminated. The terror group attacked Israel on Oct. 7, killed more than 1,000, and kidnapped hundreds.

Former New York Times writer Weiss noted that Seinfeld was looked at as “apolitical” for most of his career, but he’s recently become “politicized,” something he agreed with. The comedian has also made waves for his thoughts on political correctness influencing comedy. In April, he said the “extreme left and PC crap” is hurting comedy.

“It’s so dumb. In fact, when we get protesters occasionally, I love to say to the audience, ‘You know, I love that these young people, they’re trying to get engaged with politics…we just have to correct their aim a little bit,” Seinfeld told Weiss.

Seinfeld said he found it “comedic” when protesters were throwing insults at him, including calling him a “Nazi.”

“It’s so silly…they want to express this sincere, intense rage, but again, a little off target, so that’s, to me, comedic,” he said.

A visibly emotional Seinfeld later called visiting Israel after the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas the “most powerful experience” of his life.
