John Oliver Torches Matt Gaetz’s Stunning Fox News Interview: ‘The One White Man on Earth that Tucker Carlson Won’t Defend’

John Oliver went after Rep. Matt Gaetz’s (R-FL) bafflingly and strange Fox News interview — cracking that the congressman is “the one white man on Earth that Tucker Carlson won’t defend.”

Lil Nas X twerking on Satan seems positively wholesome compared to the news this week concerning Matt Gaetz,” Oliver quipped on Sunday’s Last Week Tonight. “Gaetz is being investigated for potentially violating sex-trafficking laws involving a minor—something he denies, claiming there is actually a multimillion-dollar extortion plot behind the investigation.”

Last week, The New York Times dropped a bombshell report revealing that Gaetz is under investigation for “whether he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old and paid for her to travel with him.”

Gaetz appeared on Tucker Carlson Tonight last Tuesday to address the Department of Justice’s investigation against him — yet the representative instead managed to stun Carlson with “one of the weirdest interviews” the host had ever conducted.

The congressman may have even made Carlson a witness by recalling a dinner date the two went on with their respective partners, which Carlson claimed he does not remember at all.

“You and I went to dinner about two years ago, your wife was there, and I brought a friend of mine, you’ll remember her,” Gaetz said to Carlson. “And she was actually threatened by the FBI, told that if she wouldn’t cop to the fact that somehow I was involved in some pay-for-play scheme that she could face trouble, and so I do believe that there are people at the Department of Justice who are trying to smear me, you know, providing for flights and hotel rooms for people that you’re dating who are of legal age is not a crime.”

Oliver cracked that the Fox News host was “so clearly trying to ‘nope’ his way out of that whole interview,” joking that Gaetz is the “one white man on Earth that Tucker Carlson won’t defend.”

“He looks like he wants to walk out of his own show,” Oliver added of Carlson. “The problem is if he did that, it wouldn’t be Tucker Carlson Tonight anymore, it would be the Matt Gaetz Digs His Own Grave Adventure Hour.”

“Look, I am sure that there will be more to discuss about this story later—probably during Matt Gaetz’s sentencing phase,” concluded the late night host.
