Actor Kevin Spacey is the latest public figure to call for the release of the “Epstein files” as President Donald Trump’s administration continues to face backlash for failing to do so.

“Release the Epstein files. All of them. For those of us with nothing to fear, the truth can’t come soon enough,” Spacey wrote on X on Tuesday. “I hate to make this about me — but the media already has.”

The two-time Oscar winner was referencing the fact that his name was included in unsealed court documents related to the late billionaire Jeffrey Epstein and a lawsuit against his associate Ghislaine Maxwell. Maxwell was found guilty of sex trafficking, while Epstein died of apparent suicide while being charged with the same crime. He was already a convicted child sex predator.

Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi have both received backlash from MAGA supporters over a Department of Justice/FBI memo claiming there is no high profile client list in the “Epstein files” — despite Bondi directly referencing one in February.

Spacey and other celebrities named in unsealed court documents were not accused of engaging in illegal activity, but rumors about Spacey persisted due to the actor facing other accusations of sexual misconduct at the time. Spacey has always maintained his innocence, arguing none of his behavior ever crossed the line into abuse.

Spacey was acquitted of sexual assault charges in the UK in 2023, and he also won a civil suit brought by actor Anthony Rapp, who claimed Spacey assaulted him as a minor. Accusations against Spacey led to him losing his job on Netflix’s House of Cards, and he’s since claimed he’s struggled financially, finding only work in independent movies.

The actor has addressed his Epstein connection in the past. In a 2024 interview with Piers Morgan, Spacey said he did not know Epstein, but ended up on one of his private planes in 2002 while on a humanitarian mission with former President Bill Clinton, which would explain why he was later noted on one of Epstein’s flight logs.

“I didn’t know him. I have never spent any time with him. I was with the Clinton Foundation people, whom I was with,” he said.

Spacey said he was concerned with the “young girls” he saw around Epstein.

“I didn’t want to be around this guy because I felt he put the president at risk on that trip to South Africa because there were these young girls,” he said. “We were like, who is this guy?”
