Fox’s Kudlow Pushes GOP Senator Over the Economy: ‘The Public Doesn’t Care About Filibusters’

Fox Business host Larry Kudlow ripped the GOP for failing to address American’s economic anxieties, telling Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) Republicans in Congress have been “completely missing the target.”

Kudlow, who served as an economic advisor during President Donald Trump’s first term, said he was “troubled” because “good” polls seemed to indicate that Americans have not been feeling the benefits of a booming economy.

“Here’s the thing that troubles me, Senator Kennedy. I’m looking at good polls, sir. I don’t know if John McLaughlin polled in your races down in Louisiana, but he’s a good pollster. He uses likely voters,” he said.

“We’re in an economic boom. The One Big Beautiful Bill of a year ago has helped engender a tremendous economic boom, including manufacturing. We got numbers out yesterday and today on the ISN, but sir, the public doesn’t know it,” he insisted.

“The public is saying the economy is getting worse. 56% are saying the economy is getting worse, only 37% say it’s getting better,” Kudlow added before telling Kennedy, “…the reconciliation bill is not getting done on the right issues. The public doesn’t care about filibusters.

“I mean, I think everybody wants voter ID, I get that. But there’s no affordability, there’s not tax cuts, there are no spending cuts. J.D. Vance talking today about whatever, $56 billion in corrupted spending, fine,” he said.

“Why isn’t that in the reconciliation bill? Over 10 years, that would be $560 billion plus the interest aid. You see what I’m saying? It’s like y’all are not directing the policies to what the people are worried about,” he told Kennedy.

Kennedy agreed.

“Well, I agree with you, Larry. I’ve been saying that for a while. I mean, you win elections by talking about the things that moms and dads, when they lie down to sleep at night and can’t, are worried about. And top of that list is cost of living,” he said.

Kudlow pushed the idea that a reconciliation bill should include economic relief.

“It should have some tax reform for middle-class people, particularly homeowners, and it should these spending cuts,” he said.

“People want spending offsets. We’re here to drain the swamp and we’re here to grow the, affordability is about taxes. And affordability’s about taxes being higher than food, clothing, and shelter.

“So I’m just gonna say, this reconciliation you speak of, what will it contain? That’s what concerns me. It’s like we’re firing a bow and arrow, but we’re completely missing the target.”
