John Fetterman Slams Kamala Harris on Fox News: ‘Lost the Plot’ When She Called Trump a ‘Fascist’
Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) said he cannot stand when his fellow Democrats brand Republicans — and in particular, President Donald Trump — as racists or Nazis, and said he believed ex-Vice President Kamala Harris “lost the plot” when she called Trump a “fascist” heading into the 2024 election.
Fetterman criticized Harris during an appearance on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show on Wednesday evening. Hannity wanted Fetterman’s take on why some Dems have doubled down on comparing Trump to Adolf Hitler and other historical monsters.
“What is going on? Why have they chosen that path when it did not succeed the first time?” Hannity asked Fetterman.
“I don’t know why, and I have always refused to say that,” Fetterman said. “When Vice President Harris referred to President Trump as a ‘fascist’, and I knew absolutely we lost the plot at that point. If you call the president or someone like a fascist, you are effectively calling the people who are going to vote for him [the same thing] and then they must be fascist too… or they support fascism and those things. And that is just not true.”
During the 2024 race, Trump repeatedly called Harris a “fascist.”
“I happen to know and love a lot of people that voted for the president and they are not fascist, they are not Nazis, they’re not trying to destroy the constitution and all those things,” he continued. “They just happen to have different priorities and they love our country in the same ways that Democrats do as well.”
Fetterman, a moment later, said that kind of rhetoric opens the door to things like the assassination of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk.
Harris, during a CNN town hall a few weeks before the 2024 election, was asked by Anderson Cooper if she believed Trump was a fascist.
“Yes, I do. Yes, I do,” Harris said.
She later, during that same event, said Trump “admires dictators” and “is a fascist.”
The ex-VP has continued bashing Trump this year too. Harris, on her recent book tour, ripped the Trump Administration, yelling, “These mothaf*ckas are crazy!”
Fetterman’s comment on Wednesday night came a day after Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) compared Trump using ICE agents to deport illegal immigrants to the start of the Holocaust in Germany.
The Pennsylvania Democrat took issue with his party on other issues as well on Hannity on Wednesday night.
Fetterman said Democrats “betrayed” Israel during the war in Gaza, and added he was the “last Democrat to stand with Israel.”
