‘A Terrific Day for President Trump’: Jon Meacham Lauds Trump ‘Victory’ on MSNBC’s Morning Joe

At least one prominent analyst on MSNBC was unequivocal in handing President Donald Trump a big “victory” Monday — as Hamas freed the last of the living Israeli hostages from Gaza.

Appearing on MSNBC’s Morning Joe just prior to Trump’s address to Israel’s Knesset, historian Jon Meacham — who served as a speechwriter and occasional confidant for former President Joe Biden — made clear that the release of the hostages is an enormous feather in Trump’s cap.

“It’s a terrific day for the hostage families,” Meacham said. “It’s a terrific day for President Trump, for our national interests.”

Meacham went on to discuss Morning Joe co-host Jon Lemire’s statement that “we don’t know if it will be the first chapter of a longer story of peace for the Middle East.”

“You’re right, we don’t know how the story ends,” Meacham told Lemire. “But stories are made up of chapters…We can go on and on about the various chapters, but we should make no mistake about this: This is a victory for President Trump and for those who wish that we can govern ourselves at home, and around the world, not simply by brute force, but by ideas and civilized norms.”
