Barstool Sports Founder Dave Portnoy Makes Shocking Announcement: ‘I Have Cancer… No Big Deal’

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy casually announced during Wednesday’s livestream of The Dozen Trivia show that he had cancer.

During the show, at around the 37-minute mark, Portnoy’s team was introduced and asked how he was feeling about the game, at which point he blurted out: “A lot of pressure. This is all that matters. We’ve been waiting all season. I have cancer, by the way. No big deal.”

Portnoy was also sporting a bandage on one side of his neck. The statement was followed by an awkward silence before the game resumed. According to the New York Post, Portnoy was diagnosed with skin cancer, which he had also revealed on the BFFs Pod podcast.

Later on Twitter/X, Portnoy clarified that he was actually cancer-free, that he “beat it.” In the video, he can be seen talking about his ordeal with Barstool’s Rico Bosco and Dan Katz:

I did have cancer. I beat it. It wasn’t the serious kind thank god. I can’t tell if Bosco thinks cancer is funny or not.

Portnoy can be heard talking about his “Frankenstein”-like scar and saying “I don’t make a big show of it” to Bosco, who was wearing a sling.
