Florida Attorney General Announces Dr. Fauci Subpoena on Fox News: ‘We Will Hold Him Accountable’

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier (R) announced on Fox News a subpoena of Dr. Anthony Fauci following the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases invoking the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times in the Senate.

Uthmeier joined Fox News’ John Roberts on Wednesday, where he detailed Florida’s legal pursuit of Fauci over his handling of the Covid pandemic.

“We issued a formal subpoena to Dr. Fauci under Florida state law seeking a breadth of documents ranging to what he knew, when he knew it, his doubts about the safety and efficacy of vaccines that he’s out there promoting,” the state attorney general said.

He said they will focus on whether Fauci personally profited from his position during the pandemic.

“He’s trying to pursue book deals, awards get conducted with high rollers that, you know, might help him come into millions and millions of dollars. This is wrong. And it could go towards a deceptive trade practice fraud, public nuisance, you name it,” he said.

Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times when testifying last week in the Senate. Fauci refused to answer any questions about the origins of Covid, lockdown measures taken, and more. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) warned Fauci there will be a vote to hold him in contempt.

Uthmeier argued Fauci looks suspicious and like he’d hiding something when he uses the Fifth Amendment after receiving a presidential pardon from former President Joe Biden.

He said:

It shows me he’s got something to hide. Clearly he is worried. When you get a presidential blanket pardon that should provide immunity where you can talk, you can explain your reasoning. You can explain research. I think his diary makes clear if he was not competent in that research. He doubted it, he doubted it the entire time. He didn’t reveal that publicly. He was focused on the mandates and the lockdowns because that would sell. It would help get the book deal, the agency wanted to meet, help him to win awards and fame and fortune. So we have a lot of concerns in Florida. We are going to investigate. If he has violated state law we will hold him accountable.

Uthmeier added, “It starts as a civil inquiry, but we’re going to tie in all aspects of Florida common law, things ranging from deceptive trade, fraud, public nuisance. Nothing if off the table.”
