Democratic New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani is coming out swinging after it emerged that President Donald Trump was horning into the election by reportedly offering two other candidates jobs in his administration.
Mamdani, speaking to ABC News, said Trump’s bold move is an “affront to our democracy, an affront to what makes so many of us proud to be Americans.”
Despite the shocking turn of events, Mamdani told the network: “We feel just as confident as we did yesterday that we will win this race in November.”
“We feel just as confident as we did yesterday that we will win this race in November.”
Mamdani’s remarks came after Politico reported incumbent NYC Mayor Eric Adams was offered a position at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
In addition, the New York Times reported that Republican challenger Curtis Sliwa has also been offered a position in the Trump White House, clearing the field and boosting the chances of Andrew Cuomo, who was embarrassed by Mamdani in the NYC Democratic primary earlier this year.
Cuomo is now running as an Independent.
