NEW POLL: Trump Hits Second-Term Low in Latest Gallup Poll, Nears All-Time Worst

President Donald Trump — who has falsely claimed, in recent days, that his approval rating is at its highest level ever — is actually approaching an all-time low, according to the latest Gallup poll.
According to the new Gallup poll out Thursday, Trump’s approval rating sits at 37 percent — down 10 points from his second-term high shortly after he took office in January, and a second-term low. His all-time worst number in the Gallup poll was 34 percent — a nadir he reached shortly after Jan. 6, days before the end of his first term.
The decline has come mostly from independents. Gallup shows just 29 percent of independents approve of the president’s job performance — down from a second-term high of 46 percent. Trump has maintained his strong standing among Republicans, with 89 percent giving him a thumbs-up — although that number is down a tick from his 93 percent high in February. Unsurprisingly, just 2 percent of Democrats approve of Trump. (That number is actually a 1 percent increase from last month.)
During a speech at the White House on Tuesday, Trump incorrectly claimed his approval numbers were actually at a peak — and credited the Jeffrey Epstein story with bolstering his approval ratings by as much as 5 points.
“I have the best numbers I’ve ever had,” Trump said. “You know, it’s amazing, I watch people on television, ‘Well, what about Donald Trump’s polling numbers?’ Yeah, they’re the best numbers I’ve ever had. And with this made-up hoax that they’re talking about, my numbers have gone up four and five points.”
