Pete Buttigieg Calls Out Fox News ON Fox News Over Crime Reporting — Tells Viewers ‘Look Up The Data!’
Key Kamala Harris for President surrogate and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg called out Fox News during a Fox News interview over their reporting on crime, urging viewers to do their own checking.
Buttigieg, a short-lister for Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate slot, is one of a handful of Biden administration figures who appear on Fox News while others do not.
On this week’s edition of Fox News Channel’s Fox News Sunday, Buttigieg told anchor Shannon Bream that despite former President Donald Trump’s emphasis on what he calls “migrant crime,” the fact is crime is down under President Joe Biden from where it was under Trump.
He also threw a sharp elbow at Fox by accusing the network of obscuring that fact, and urged viewers to look it up — to which Bream interjected “We invite that!”:
SHANNON BREAM: There are blue states, governors and mayors who say every state is a border state. Now that’s Democrats.
SEC. PETE BUTTIGIEG: And now they’re saying, but what the false message of the RNC was that this was leading to an increase in crime. And I think it’s really important that we talk about.
SHANNON BREAM: (inaudible) t–the cases that have been very high profile of people–
SEC. PETE BUTTIGIEG: Of course. Their individual cases illegally. But this is my point–
SHANNON BREAM: Had they not been in this country people would still be alive.
SEC. PETE BUTTIGIEG: Trying to make people think that crime is up when crime is down under Joe Biden and crime was up under Donald Trump.
Now, I don’t know how often that gets reported on this network. So if you’re watching this at home, do yourself a favor and look up the data.
SHANNON BREAM: Well, we invite that!
SEC. PETE BUTTIGIEG: Great! So if you look this up at home, you will know that crime went down under Biden and crime went up under Trump.
SHANNON BREAM: Certain categories!
SEC. PETE BUTTIGIEG: And I think the violent crime for sure. So I think the really important thing to ask is, why would America want to go back to the higher crime that we experienced under Donald Trump?
SHANNON BREAM: Okay. But they also may want to ask why they’d want to go to millions fewer people coming illegally across the border. And every single person who was here and was involved with a crime, that’s a life that didn’t have to be lost. And I think that’s the argument being made.
