Rep. John Larson Suffers Frightening Episode On House Floor — Freezes During Speech for Nearly 30 Seconds
U.S. Rep. John Larson (D-CT) froze in place as he suffered an apparent medical episode in the middle of giving a speech in the House.
Larson on Monday afternoon gave a floor speech about Social Security under the administration of President Donald Trump. Roughly three minutes into the five minutes of speaking time he was given, the 76-year-old suddenly stopped speaking and stood silently for nearly 30 seconds — similar to an incident with Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in 2023.
Then, Larson started talking much more slowly than before as his ability to speak seemed to return to him. Due to his slower speech, however, his time ran out and the floor was given to someone else.
As reported by CT Mirror, Larson’s office claimed the episode was “likely an adverse reaction to a new medication.”
“Congressman Larson appreciates the well wishes from everyone who has reached out,” the statement from the office read. “This afternoon, he had what was likely an adverse reaction to a new medication and is having tests administered by the House Attending Physician out of an abundance of caution. He later participated in multiple meetings in his office and was alert and engaged. The Congressman remains in touch with his staff and in good spirits.”
