GOP Lawmaker Booed Relentlessly During Chaotic NY Town Hall Meeting: ‘Shame! Shame! Shame!’

Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) was met with boos and chants of “Shame! Shame! Shame!” during a combustible town hall Sunday night in Somers, New York, as voters grilled the congressman on his support for President Donald Trump and other GOP policies.

Held at the Kennedy Catholic prep school auditorium in the Hudson Valley, the town hall went sideways from the jump when Lawler opened with: “This is what democracy looks like,” which reportedly drew audible laughter from the crowd.

Jeers erupted again when Lawler referenced Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., prompting him to ask: “So you want, for instance, petroleum-based dyes to continue?”

As Lawler fielded a question about tariffs, security forcibly removed a woman from the upper rows, sparking chants of “Let her stay!” The crowd’s fury mounted with every ejection—three in total—despite pre-event rules barring recording, shouting, or even standing.

At one point, the crowd chanted in unison: “Shame! Shame! Shame!”

“Folks, tariffs are way more complicated than you want to make them,” Lawler said over the uproar. “Folks, enough!”

Lawler tried to close the night on a conciliatory note as the crowd walked out mid-answer during a question on Israel protests: “I very much appreciate you participating,” he said.
