‘So Many Scalps!’ Laura Loomer Takes Victory Lap As Her Trump ‘Disloyalty’ Purge Continues
Trump ally and longtime MAGA provocateur, Laura Loomer, took a victory lap this week after several top administration officials left their roles under pressure from her.
Loomer shared two New York Times headlines from Tuesday, one of which read, “Top Lawyer for National Security Agency Is Fired” and the other reporting, “Top F.D.A. Official Resigns Under Pressure.” Loomer captioned the post, “Very productive day today. It’s very important that we protect President Trump. We have only one year left to stop the Communist takeover of America.”
Loomer had targeted top NSA lawyer April Falcon Doss over her past work for the Senate Intelligence Committee’s Democratic staff. Loomer, likewise, targeted the FDA’s top vaccine and gene therapy official, Dr. Vinay Prasad, for “past statements of support he had made for prominent figures on the political left, including Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt,” noted the Times.
Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, fumed at Falcon Doss’s dismissal, saying in a statement:
We should be outraged by the firing of April Doss, a deeply principled public servant, apparently for the role that she played in the Senate Intelligence Committee’s bipartisan investigation into Russian election interference. Her dismissal appears to be the result of a politically motivated smear campaign driven by a far-right conspiracy theorist, not any legitimate concern about her conduct or qualifications. Undermining experienced, nonpartisan professionals like April weakens our national security and makes it harder to protect the country from real threats.
Loomer’s victory lap also included posting, “So many scalps this week! Stacking them up!”
Loomer made headlines back in April for leading the charge against National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and a purge at the National Security Council, including the firing of the national security director and the highly respected general who oversaw cybersecurity.
“Thank you President Trump for being receptive to the vetting materials provided to you. And thank you for firing these Biden holdovers,” Loomer wrote at the time, adding, “NSA Director Tim Haugh and his deputy Wendy Noble have been disloyal to President Trump. That is why they have been fired.”
The far-right conspiracy theorist, who has doubted everything from 9/11 to school shootings, has anointed herself Trump’s “disloyalty” protector and made it her personal mission to root out non-MAGA officials in the administration, including key personnel related to national security. National security positions have long been considered non-partisan and outside the realm of political jockeying, a norm the Trump administration is throwing out the window by having an online influencer oust officials over accusations of disloyalty.
On Wednesday, Loomer made it clear her next target was the Pentagon: “Wow @PeteHegseth! Looks like some of your underlings are trying to screw you. There are clearly a lot of Biden holdovers at DOD undermining the Trump admin. Who the hell is doing the hiring over at DOD @DeptofDefense? It’s horrendous.”
She went on to call out an official by name and concluded, “Time for a massive DOD RIF [reduction in force].”
