Ted Cruz Mocks Tucker Carlson and his ‘High-Pitched Laughter’ for Claiming Iran Hasn’t Tried to Kill Trump

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) mocked Tucker Carlson and his “high-pitched laughter” on Thursday, providing receipts after the former Fox News host claimed not to be aware of Iranian efforts to assassinate President Donald Trump.
During their testy conversation about the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran earlier this week, Cruz made note of Iran’s well-documented efforts at offing the incumbent, causing Carlson to muse that “if there’s evidence that Iran paid hitmen to kill Donald Trump and is currently doing that, where is the-, like what are you even talking-, I’ve never heard that before?”
“Where is the evidence? Who are these people? Why haven’t they been arrested? Why are we not at war with Iran?” continued Carlson.
On Thursday morning, The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh weighed in on the exchange by calling it “the most interesting part of the Cruz-Tucker debate.”
“I agree with Tucker’s point. If Iran actually is trying to actively kill Donald Trump then absolutely I would support going to war with them and annihilating the whole regime. Trying to kill our president is an act of war against us. It would be, of course, very legitimate for us to respond with overwhelming force in defense of ourselves, our nation, and our president,” wrote Walsh. “So it is strange that ‘they tried to kill Trump’ is so often mentioned more as an aside than as the primary justification for intervention. If they tried to kill Trump, why are we even talking about nukes at all? Why isn’t that being presented as the primary reason to intervene? And why haven’t we already intervened if they’ve been trying to kill our president for years? I think these are extremely valid questions.”
Cruz responded directly to Walsh with a thread that included numerous receipts. It read, in full:
@MattWalshBlog I agree that it was interesting. But it would have more so had Tucker not been utterly fact-free.
“I’ve never heard of Iran trying to kill Trump!” [high-pitched laughter]
It’s an objective fact. Here’s the DOJ indictment: https://t.co/vkFJDNb8S2
Here’s President Trump explicitly referencing Iran’s trying to kill him: https://twitter.com/MarinaMedvin/status/1886903025656013083
Here’s the head of the IRGC saying they are trying to kill Trump: https://twitter.com/KasraAarabi/status/1629261944057208834
Here’s the video that the IRGC put out last year graphically displaying their intent to use drone to murder Trump on the golf course: https://twitter.com/RT_com/status/1481629970246025217
@MattWalshBlog Facts matter. And Tucker was histrionically pretending objective facts don’t exist.
As I observed in the interview, not a single senator—not even Bernie Sanders of Elizabeth Warren—claims like Tucker that Iran is NOT trying to kill Trump.
Because it’s false.
The heated conversation between the conservative lawmaker and populist internet personality produced a number of explosive moments, as Cruz marveling at Carlson’s fixation on Israel and Carlson suggesting Cruz was accusing him of being an anti-Semite “in a sleazy, feline way.”
