Ted Cruz’s Dolly Parton Tribute Goes Horribly Wrong as He Falls Victim to Social Media Prank

Senator Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) innocent tribute to Dolly Parton left him red in the face after he fell victim to a prank on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

It all started when X user “lebatardshowfan” took to the platform on Tuesday afternoon to share “My favorite clip of Dolly,” just minutes after the country music legend’s death was reported.

The clip of Parton performing on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson drew the attention of many, including Cruz, who reposted the clip with the word “Legend” and several emojis.

But at some point after he did so, “lebatardshowfan” changed his username to “Ted Cruz’s tiny d*ck.”

Unbeknownst to Cruz, the video remained on his feed for nearly an entire day before it was deleted, according to reports.

The post remains on the lebatardshowfan account, and has racked up 4.3M views. The username, however, is now changed to “Mark.”

Cruz never addressed the snafu, but did post about Parton on Thursday, advocating that Sept. 25 (or 9/2-5) be officially designated as “Dolly Parton Day.”

This time around, he re-posted the safe choice of Parton’s official, verified account.
