‘These People Are Dumb!’ James Carville Tear Into DNC for Embracing Abolish ICE Stance

Democratic political strategist James Carville and his podcast co-host, political commentator Al Hunt, unleashed on the Democratic National Committee for embracing an “abolish ICE” platform coming into the midterm elections.

On the latest episode of Politics War Room, Hunt proclaimed the “abolish ICE” issue as one of his outrages of the week.

“James, you know there are a number of left-wing candidates, democratic socialists who are calling for abolishing ICE. You expect that,” Hunt began. “But this week the DNC embraced that position. That’s insanity on two grounds. As policy, how can a nation exist without an immigration agency? And politically, it’s a gift to troubled Republicans who’ll say, ‘See? They just want open borders and return to those bad old days.”

Hunt continued:

It’s the stupidest idea since Democrats called for abolishing the police. To be clear, I think the current ICE, which takes orders from the White House aide Stephen Miller, a despicable bigot and hater, is out of control. There are too many ill-trained thugs, who have injured and even murdered innocent people. What happened to the 50-grand that the FBI reported that the border czar Tom Homan took in a restaurant take-out bag in order to steer lucrative contracts to people?

ICE needs to be overhauled. It needs to be reformed. Throw out all the current leaders. Bring in serious law enforcement and immigration experts. Set rigorous training standards, rules, and accountability. That can be done when a new administration takes over. The DNC has many problems and challenges. It ought to stay away from dumb ideas like abolishing ICE.

Carville jumped in, saying, “I couldn’t agree more. And one thing that all these DNC members have in common, none of them ever got a single vote for anything!” he exclaimed.

“It’s not your job to steer the policy direction of the party. It’s your job to win elections! Can I please get that through your thick skulls? You have one mission on this earth and that is to win elections in your role as a member of the Democratic National Committee,” Carville said. “You have no other public purpose on this earth other than that. Let me suggest that you use it.”

“They cannot help themselves,” Carville said of the DNC. “They have to make public fools of themselves. There’s not much we can do about it because the stupider they get, the stupider they are. But, why are you dragging the good Democrat candidates we got all around the country? You think our candidate in Alaska is interested in this? No. Texas? No, no, no, no. God almighty, these people are dumb!”
