Bill Maher addressed the Trump rally shooting at the outset of his standup performance Saturday night — arguing the Left has now “lost a lot of moral high ground.”
In off-the-cuff comments to open his show in Minneapolis, the HBO Real Time host said he “unequivocally denounce[d]” the attack and railed against the shooter — who was later identified by authorities as Thomas Matthew Crooks.
“Whoever was the shooter has done so much damage to the Left,” Maher said. “Lost a lot of moral high ground in the ‘You’re the violent people.’ Liberals don’t shoot people. Liberals don’t solve it that way.”
Maher suggested the shooting could wrap up the election for former President Donald Trump.
“When I saw that photo of him with the blood streaming down his face, I don’t want to say the election is over, but…” Maher said. “Anything could happen in an election, but Jesus Christ. … It almost doesn’t matter who the Democrats put up now.”
On Friday, Maher predicted that President Joe Biden will withdraw from the race within the next month.
