Trump Goes Off on Winning DSA Candidate Calling Police ‘Pigs’: ‘Who the Hell Is She?’

President Donald Trump took aim Friday at New York congressional nominee Darializa Avila Chevalier over past social media posts in which she referred to law enforcement officers as “pigs,” demanding, “Who the hell is she?”

Chevalier, whose campaign was backed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), won New York’s Democratic primary in June, ousting sitting Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-NY). She’s also been endorsed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D).

Earlier in June, before the primary election, CNN’s KFile revealed that she deleted past controversial tweets, including a 2021 repost of a message that declared, “ALL PIGS EVERYWHERE ARE HARAM,” an Arabic term meaning something that is forbidden, and a 2020 reply to another user in which she described “abolishing” the police as “ending policing full stop.”

On Friday, Trump, joined by Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel, spoke to a crowd of law enforcement officials on Long Island, boosting New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman. The president described Democratic socialists as “communist[s]” who call for “abolishing the police, abolishing prisons, abolishing qualified immunity, abolishing all immigration enforcement, and giving amnesty to 50 million illegal aliens.”

“One of Mayor Mamdani’s closest allies in New York, Darializa Avila — have you — I’ve never heard of her. Who the hell is she?” Trump questioned, prompting “boos” from the crowd.

The president continued, saying that she “called police pigs,” and imitating, “‘They’re pigs.’ She said, ‘They’re pigs!’ And, uh, she said that, uh, ‘End policing full stop.’ That was her — that’s her campaign. That’s what she says — ‘End policing full stop.'”

Trump went on to call out “full-fledged Palestinian” Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), “crazy” Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, who he said has “done such a poor job” in the state.
