President Donald Trump further teased a lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal on Thursday by saying he’s “looking forward” to media mogul Rupert Murdoch testifying in court.
“I look forward to getting Rupert Murdoch to testify in my lawsuit against him and his ‘pile of garbage’ newspaper, the WSJ. That will be an interesting experience!!!” the president wrote on Truth Social.
Trump has denied the authenticity of a report dropped by the Journal that included a description of a letter Trump reportedly sent Epstein in 2003 for his 50th birthday. The letter reportedly includes an imaginary conversation between the billionaires, a drawing of a nude woman, and the line, “Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret” as its conclusion.
“This is not me. This is a fake thing. It’s a fake Wall Street Journal story,” Trump said in response to the story. “I never wrote a picture in my life. I don’t draw pictures of women.”
Trump claimed he’s going to sue the Journal “like I sued everyone else,” referring to his past lawsuits against media outlets, including CBS parent company Paramount.
The report has dropped as Trump has continued calling the existence of the “Epstein Files” a “hoax” and lashed out at his own supporters over backlash to a Department of Justice/FBI memo on the Epstein case. Attorney General Pam Bondi, however, made reference to an Epstein client list, something long touted by MAGA supporters, sitting on her desk in February, which would appear to be inconsistent with the new memo denying the existence of the list and concluding that Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide.
The late billionaire died of an apparent suicide while being charged with sex trafficking in 2019. The letter included in the Journal story reportedly comes from an album put together by longtime Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving 20 years for sex trafficking.
