Van Jones Declaring ‘I’m a Peace Guy’ at March For Israel Met With Chants of ‘No Ceasefire’
CNN’s Van Jones got a mixed reaction from the March for Israel attendees in Washington D.C. when he used part of his speech to call for Israel to stop bombing Gaza in the midst of their war against Hamas.
During his speech, Jones called for a collective stand against anti-Semitism while offering his sympathies to those in Israel who’ve suffered because of the violence instigated by Hamas.
After hoping for the end of Hamas’ “reign of terror,” Jones described himself as “a peace guy” as he said “I pray for peace. No more rockets from Gaza, and no more bombs falling down on the people of Gaza.”
“God protect the children,” Jones continued. “Let’s end all the horror and all the heartbreak in the holy land. Let’s end all of it.”
As he moved on with the conclusion of his speech, Jones faced uproarious, competing chants from the crowd. Some of of the attendees seemed to believe Jones was calling for a ceasefire, objecting with audible cries of “No ceasefire!”
The chants didn’t prevent Jones from wrapping his speech though, for he finished by urging people to stand against hatred of Jews, Muslims, and anybody else.
“No matter what happens anyplace else, we can do better here,” he said. “No more horror there. No more hatred here. You are not alone. Thank you very much.”
