Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) found an unlikely ally in political commentator Katie Miller, who is married to White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Stephen Miller.

Over the weekend, Ocasio-Cortez announced she has begun the process of freezing her eggs, something Katie said “We should celebrate.”

“We have historically low birth rates worldwide. If one woman wants to preserve her right to have children, which means more than having none—we should celebrate that,” Katie wrote on X.

She continued, “If she inspires other women to have babies, we should celebrate that. More women should get married and have babies younger, but too many women buy into the feminist lie and spend their childbearing years climbing the career ladder. When society has more babies and more young women and men are exposed to more babies, there will be more babies. Everyone’s journey to motherhood is different, just as each of us mothers differently. I can’t wait to see how motherhood changes AOC.”

Ocasio-Cortez first shared the news via social media Saturday night. “Usually I keep my private life quite private, but I have made the decision to start freezing my eggs,” she said on a livestream.

The topic came up the following morning during an interview with ABC’s Jonathan Karl.

Karl said, “I want to…get to your future. I’m sure you saw the poll in New Hampshire that had you as the leading candidate, leading choice, for Democrats. First of all, are you going to run for president?”

Ocasio-Cortez answered, “I mean, I’m focused on winning the midterms. I’m running for Congress right now.”

She later added, “Well I haven’t ruled out the possibility. And I’m very humbled to the tremendous amount of support out there. I think that we have a responsibility to remain focused on the midterms and not on our individual aspirations or plans.”

Toward the end of the conversation, Karl added, “And then, before you go, you did have a personal announcement that you made — it was interesting to see you kind of open up on an Instagram live, I believe it was.”

“So I have decided to start the process of freezing my eggs,” Ocasio-Cortez answered. “And in this political environment where this administration is denying reproductive care to women across the country, from abortion rights to the ability to carry out a healthy pregnancy. Uh, I think it’s important for us as leaders to have these conversations, conversations, and share these processes, especially for working women across the country, and normalize them.”
