‘AMAZING!’ Social Media Erupts as South Carolina Scores Historic NCAA Title Game Win Over Iowa and Caitlin Clark

It was the perhaps most-anticipated event in the history of women’s sports. And in the end, it went the way of the undefeated super team.

South Carolina defeated Caitlin Clark and Iowa 87-75 to win the NCAA women’s basketball championship Sunday in Cleveland — finishing off a perfect 38-0 season.

After an incredible first quarter from Clark in which she scored 18 points, South Carolina controlled the game the rest of the way. Iowa got as close as 5 points in the fourth quarter, but South Carolina quickly bumped the lead back up to double digits and finished off the victory.

When the final horn sounded, fans celebrated South Carolina and coach Dawn Staley for pulling off the historic win:

Clark, who scored 30 points in defeat for the Hawkeyes, also received praise on social media for her transcendent career:
